Get a different mayor or judge. You can get married in one town and have a mayor from another do the ceremony. Was at a civil wedding in Westfield where the mayor of Garwood did the wedding. Find someone who will work with you.

Also, your spelling!!! use the spell checker! That was pretty rough to read!

My husband and I live in NJ now and we had a similar problem - he lived in Hoboken but I lived in Flushing, NY at the time. We had a civil service and then a ceremony later.

NYC has no residency requirement, so we had the civil service at City Hall in NY to get it over with. So, you can get the civil service done in NYC first, then get another NJ marriage license to do your ceremony in NJ. It's perfectly fine. A lot of people do 2 different ceremonies. You don't even need to get a second marriage license because the first marriage is valid - this is great if the second one will be a religious ceremony. That's what we did.

why not get married in another state, like NY or Nevada. I mean people get married in Vegas all the time and my guess they are not from the state.

Go to this website:

Good luck and congratulations.
