Are we, collectively as a group, looking for simple answers to our religion and spirituality questions, or are we looking for simplistic answers?

Neither. It seems the majority is simply looking for self-affirming answers. Whatever answer ever simply agrees the most with the questioner is the most likely by far to be chosen as "best".

Any question that attempts to lump everyone into a "collective" pigeon hole is probably looking for a simplistic answer by definition, no? ;-)
Seriously though, I'd say there are people out there looking for both. And in some cases, the two are not necessarily mutually exclusive concepts.

When I ask a question regarding a religion, I want informative answers. The bible is a good source for simplistic information, as in no information.

Collectively, it's hard to judge. No doubt there are people who have "Precious Moments" level of sophistication regarding spiritual matters. I think, or at least hope, that collectively we're looking for something better than that.

i think most r quite settled in their belief with every little question & just come here for fun. (me too to some extent)

I'd tend to agree with The Resurrectionist -- though I'd add "self-serving" and "self-aggrandizing" to his "self-affirming".....
