Shouldn't they raise the money before building. Isn't it God's will to be debt free. If so why are Churches so hypocritical when it comes to money. In my opinion the church has become so materialistic just like the American culture

That's a good question.

My church just borrowed $90,000.00 for new water lines and city sewer. I donated $12,000.00 in machinery and equipment service. I could have repaired the system we already had for $3,000.00

hmmm....I dunno. I think that money should have done other things. There is a time and place to borrow money for emergencies or whatever, but this was not one of them.

I have mixed feelings about this. I guess bottom line is: The Elders have a major task, trying to figure out, just what to do.

DEBT...is no place for a church to be. That's my opinion.

Ok so why does the church need a new building. Most likely because the church has grown. People have been saved and new people have joined the church. This is a AWESOME thing. If a church is not growing are they really winning people to Christ? Try to remember that your money is your money only because your heavenly father blessed you with it. Your church is not expecting you to help finance, maybe it is the Holy Spirit convicting you. You only offer things to God if it is done from your heart. God Bless

no, no, no, no, no.

Boy, YOU have a really mixed up conception of what a church is. It is SUPPOSED to be a "family" of members, who want the Lord's work to be done. If you choose to think that tithing, yes, tithing, isn't God's will, then you are sooo wrong.

YOU are the one thinking materialistically.

God doesn't need money. He just asks for a tenth of your's to see if you are faithful in the little things, so He can bless you with bigger things.

So, you make up your mind about tithing, or giving to the church. God blesses your money ten times over what you could ever expect. He takes care of my money INCREDIBLY!!

Because people keep giving them money.

Stop giving them money, and maybe they'll start being a bit more fiscally responsible.

Which churches are you speaking of?

Churches do not expect you to contribute. They ask you to contribute.
