If they made fun of you, it would be because you weren't like them.

But why would you want to be like other people? If there were only one kind of person in the world, wouldn't that be quite boring and stupid?

I don't think it's your problem. If there's a problem, it's with the people who think that everyone should be the same. They may think they're being cool---but anyone who thinks everyone should be the same must be as uncool, unconfident, and uninteresting as a person could be. It's like thinking there should be only one kind of tree, or bird, or cloud, or anything. Ick!!

If anyone makes fun of you for being who you are, just feel sorry for their lack of imagination, confidence, and kindness, and enjoy being who you are. This is a good time to start practicing this skill---because the sooner you stop worrying about people who don't like you, and start appreciating and enjoying who you are, the happier you'll be for the rest of your life.

It's so simple---but it's amazing how many people NEVER get this simple thing! They let FEAR dominate their lives and take their choices and happiness away. We weren't born to be afraid. We were born to live, and to be who we are.

I guarantee that when you're 110 and you're lying in bed, breathing your last breath, you're NOT going to be thinking, "Gee, I sure wish I'd acted the way other people thought I should've acted so they would've liked me more!" :?)

Hope this helps.

Cheers, Ander

I'm a nerd! So is my BF and I don't give a d**m if some people want to make fun of me or my BF for that matter.
Remember, you should be able to be who you want to be in life, because the most important person in your life is ... you!

People will make fun of anyone they perceive as different from themselves. Sadly it is unfashionable to be intelligent in our culture at the present time. If you look like you read or study too much, or speak in an educated way, people will make fun of you. The pressure to be or at least appear stupid and uneducated is very strong. The loss to our society in terms of the good creative contributions that people could make if they educated themselves is staggering!

Descriptive adjectives that tag people are used to aid comprehension. The problem with tags is that few absolute definitions exist. What Jane /John/ &Jimbob "believe" a nerd is varies AS does THEIR response...

So what if people make fun of you? Do you not have the ability to ignore, not associate with or respond to people who might "make fun" of you???

we ( people) are all different, just think, maybe i see someone as a nerd, but you don't;and why? because we are different, i would never make fun of someone that i consider nerd just like i don't make fun of someone that i consider intelligent.

nerds are smart, fully focus, organized people that not so smart people are afraid of. I like nerds. Got pencils?

What's your definition of a nerd?
I have two definitions:
1) Your future employer and
2) Someone who thinks they're cool, but isn't.
