The reason I ask is that I have seen resposes such as this from mostly Christians on this site: "Why are you here? If you don't believe in God (or Jesus) then get off the R&S board".

Last I checked, "religion" meant a belief system. There are 1000's of belief systems in the world (if not more). Even ATHEISM is a belief system whereas there is a belief that there is no creator deity or higher power.

Furthermore, "spirituality" is:

1. the quality or fact of being spiritual.
2. incorporeal or immaterial nature.
3. predominantly spiritual character as shown in thought, life, etc.; spiritual tendency or tone.

Spirituality, as well as religion, is not limited to only one particular belief system (i.e. Christianity).

It's hard to lump all Christians together like that. There are in fact many Christian's that see themselves as the only religion. There are many others that don't consider Christianity a religion at all. There are Christians that tolerate and venerate other religious points of view and Christians that demonize other points of view. The problem is sorting them all out. I am sure that in another fifty years there will be Christians that interpret the Bible to say that they can't wear velcro shoes on Thursays, but that doesn't make them Christians. Nothing so inspires people as adversity.

No we do not think R&S is just for Christians. I've said it before, and you said it here, it is for people with a Religious/Spiritual belief system.

I will not agree that being Athiest is a Religious/Spiritual belief system, it is not. So I would agree with those who ask why someone without a belief system are here, expect to mock, and make trouble. Therefore they don't belong here. Offended ? Good ! Now get over it.

christianity-the religion of christ

religion-belief in, acceptance of God

spirituality-in christian, science of God

atheism-disbelief in the existence of God

now all of these are found in the dictionary that I didnt make up myself. Looks like they ALL pertain to God which would be in a site related to "religion/spirituality/christianity

I would have to say yes, it seems they are all synonymous. So sorry, I do not agree with you as I have factual information not just opinion.. however, being a christian, I do not know of one christian myslef that doesnt accept other "religious beliefs are ou there an have respect for that, so to stereotype all christians is just another opinion and not based on facts of how christians really do think. So, christians in turn are not limited to believeing there is only one religion belief system either, so you see if goes both ways. You are doing just what you accuse us christians of doing. Very contradicting I might say..

Why is it that some people on this site think that Christians don't belong in the Religion and Spirituality Section? I've seen LOTS of attacks on Christians here. You don't like it when they shoot back? Then try calling a cease fire. But don't complain when you just get what you give. That's called karma, and it isn't even Christian.

Ya babe, you got it right there

god ain't that stupid to relay his hebrew messages to an alien
does'nt make sense is'nt it?
merciful he is so, even someone in the remote jungle gets his messages in the language they naturally understand thru' of course a chosen one from that race

but obviously to some ignorants, egoists will make a stand of their self acclaimed rightful beliefs but little did they knew that every religion is rightful in their own ways

religion is for every man is to his creator and not meant as a poitical agenda as many do if one really knows

I don't think it's so much as "why are you here", it's more of why are you attacking Chrisitians because we answer a question based on our beliefs? Christians have the same right to be here as any other belief system as well. The pot can't call the kettle black! No one is using them synonymous but you...well, maybe a few others

Couple of things to keep in mind:

1) The vast majority of sincere religious/spiritual posters here ARE Christian
2) Most of the people here posting about Christianity are not Christian themselves, but are merely trying to bash Christianity.

But I agree with your sentiment - all beliefs should be welcomed and tolerated without petty insults and name-calling.

Why is it that Christians can't say any thing any where with out getting bashed for it? we belong here just as much as you do just because we are more in agreement and there are more of us dosen't mean that we need to drop off the face of the earth to make you more comfortabl. I want to know why there isn't a Answers section for just Christians and one for Spiritulests and one for just Atheiests. I bet its because it would be boring why don't you just get more of your friends to write?

It is pretty annoying when Christians (who's not willing to study any other religions than their own) want to answer questions about Hinduism or Paganism.
