There are a lot of crank Confuciun jokes out there. Of which, I'm sure this is one: -Confucius say; "A family is like game of poker. You start with pair and end with full house". Call it a hunch, but I don't think Confucius played too much poker... You could browse The Analects for something appropriate. Just try and get a good translation. Confucius wasn't big on his family references, except in terms of government and ruling the country.. He tended more toward virtue, knowledge and worth. But some of these may be 'family relevent' and helpful: "To put the world right in order, we must first put the nation in order; to put the nation in order, we must first put the family in order; to put the family in order, we must first cultivate our personal life; we must first set our hearts right." "You cannot open a book without learning something." "Men's natures are alike, it is their habits that carry them far apart." "By three methods we may learn wisdom: First, by reflection, which is noblest; Second, by imitation, which is easiest; and third by experience, which is the bitterest." "It does not matter how slowly you go, so long as you do not stop." "The strength of a nation derives from the integrity of the home." "Forget injuries, never forget kindnesses." "To be poor without murmuring is difficult. To be rich without being proud is easy." "Never give a sword to a man who can't dance." Okay, I was fairly liberal with my use of the term 'family relevant'... I lean toward the first one (even though I like the last one most). You could try something like: "Other things may change us, but we start and end with the family." - Anthony Brandt Try the links below, good quote finding. Hope I helped.
