I see alot of activity on this forum from what appears to be US citizens (therefore they are working during the daytime like me). If you are an employee drawing an hourly wage you have given your word to your employer that you will work 8 hours for 8 hours pay in return.

If the employee spends 30 minutes or so a day on Yahoo answers forum while on the clock is this not embezzlement. This is no different than doctoring the pay clock to show that you were working at a time when you were not.

Oh, yeah lest you say I'm a pot calling the kettle black, I own my business and am the employer.

Just something I think should be considered. It is my responsibility to live up to my word to compensate my employees as I have promised and likewise it is my employees responsibility to live up to their word to provide work for that compensation.

I know many will rationalize what they do, but if you don't feel your boss is fair then you need to get another job.

Sounds like your boss is a lot like me. I'm pretty loose with my employees it was just a thought I had.

It is wrong ONLY if you like your job, enjoy the salary, and need the money. Otherwise, you are 100% right...straight out stealing from you boss. I happen to own the company, so I can do what I want....IF I caught one of my employees doing this, his/her job would be in serious jeopardy, that is for sure. As a boss and owner, IF my employee gets their job done quicker than I thought they could, they owe it to me to ask for more work..trust that they will get the promotions when the chips are down. Good luck,

I am retired so I can spend as much time as I want on the computer as long as the place I use it is open. when I was working and had computers the boss had all Internet access blocked as the computer was to be used for business purposes only even by management personnel of which I was a part of. we discussed this situation and totally supported this decision which I had a part in by the way.

I was just wondering exactly what your job is .
In Florida {where I live there are many retired people } and I'm sure they are every where else across the country . Some of us who are on here are on Disability or perhaps just feeling a little under the weather today . There are many people who work at night and the list goes on ! Why are you assuming that every one is dishonest . I sure hope you don't always think negatively .

It is probably not right to do it on the clock, but I would assume most employees with a computer and internet connection in there office play on the net from time to time during the day....lol If they are getting there job done then let them be.....Good Luck!

3rd shift person here.

But yeah it's wrong posting when you should be working. The business is paying you to work, not screw around on the internet.

Not much of a difference if you took your car to the mechanic but they spend a few hours answering these questions & still charge you for that time on your bill.

i am in the uk and at work...and no, it is not wrong as soon as you do your job properly and are competent.

that is what you get paid to do at the end of the day. so if fsome ppl cannot do both things at the same time, it is suggestable that they do not go on YA! if they still want their job.

I think you just spent entirely too much time on a stupid question. People are just on here wasting time because they have nothing better to do, or, like me, have better stuff to do but don't feel like doing it. End of story.
