I have a tender pain on my scalp, like a bruise from bumping my head. I have not bumped my head at all recently though. The pain came on for no reason yesterday and still hurts. I have also been getting quick shooting pains behind my right ear off and on. Any ideas on a cause??

I also have tender spots on my scalp, and I can especially feel them when combing or brushing my hair. It can hurt badly too if you yank too hard. I don't know if that's the same thing you have though. You might want to go to the Dr. and get that checked out. There might have been some damage done when you bumped your head, and now it is making itself known to you. Good luck.

You will also have a pretty tender area at the base of the skull on the same side. You note the pain behind the ear when making certain movements but is not consistent.. each time you feel the pain, is reminiscent of hitting the crazy bone in the elbow. You are compressing the auricular nerve and get the same reaction.

If you are at all familiar with the sutures of the skull, you will note these correspond to the tender areas of the scalp you are now experiencing.. Suggesting considerable torsion being applied by the unequal muscle tension of the neck, which is noted by the tenderness at the base of the skull.... on one side.

There are usually attending symptoms, other than what you have mentioned.

This condition is consistent with spinal curvature.. and when looking at yourself in the mirror, you will note the head has a tendency to lean one way.... one shoulder is either longer than the other or lower than the other. This trend can be followed clear down to the hips..You will also note the navel to be off center..

By the time you are experiencing the symptoms you present, the condition is quite well progressed.
