There is a big difference between holding up your light and just ramming it down some ones throat

You don't go around preaching it unless you practice it, OK?

I am a Christian and all God wants us to do is --Love God and tell others how good He is to you--what He has done for you. When they see the contentment on your face, the peace that passes understanding, THEN, they may ask you--"How do you stay so peaceful?"

I think the word, God, would probably come out of my mouth.

If people run when you talk about how good He is, they are not open to hear His name, because a lot of people don't want to be told what to do, or how they should act. Satan condemns them when they hear the word "God", because satan knows something good is about to come out of your mouth.
But, that's quite allright. You just keep speaking up every time He does something good for you, make sure you give Him ALL the credit and glory.

I don't call it preaching. A preacher preaches (lol) You are to constantly show your light, whether by actions or words, and try to show others the truth. Live a good life, share the life with others, and have a relationship with God and it's about it.

The gospel should always be preached, verbal or by actions. We christian will fall short from time to time, but don't let that distract you. Jesus called sinners, meaning we have fault before God. Prey that God will prepare the heart for those he brings into your path to his word, and prepare your heart to let go and let God do the speaking. Actions speak louder than words, but actions speak loudest WITH words. People don't usually care what you know until they know you care.

Living like a Christian is the first step. When people ask you why you are different is where the Word of God comes in.

"Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine." - 2 Tim 4:2

Live it constantly and consistantly.

"Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen." - Mat 28:19-20

Evangelise at every opportunity.

"Whosoever therefore shall be ashamed of me and of my words in this adulterous and sinful generation; of him also shall the Son of man be ashamed, when he cometh in the glory of his Father with the holy angels." - Mark 8:38

I never make mention of the things I am ashamed of deeds done or words said from within family... because it is a private matter, not meant for others to know about. To do likewise about Christ... that is, to keep it entirely a private matter... could it not be understood that also is a sign of being ashamed of Him?

However, I make it *well* known how proud I am of my sons' schoolwork. If I too am proud of Christ, then I will "proclaim it from the mountaintops" just like I would my boys' achievements.

Matthew 28:19 says to preach.
The word 'preach' may not be the best word choice.
It gives the idea of forcing things.
How about ....making known?
Of course we also have to live what we 'make known' or else others could rightfully call us hypocrites.

I feel we should do both. Of course, if we don't live it, then we shouldn't be preaching it. We should live it, but also preach it as well.

You should educate those who would be educated for the edification of God, however if they do not want to hear it then you should step off and leave them alone.
