The strongest code the Freemasons have is that of Moral Conduct. We entrust our lives to men and women (at least in American Co-Masonry) in that we can confide in them. We know we can trust them in our dealings with them, not to steal from us, not to do us harm or to slander us. Part of the assurity of that trustworthiness gets early on tested by seeing if they can control their behaviors (subduing their passions) by not revealing certain grips, tokens and words.
Can you find these up online somewhere? Probably. Is a Freemason, whatever his or her Order, still required to keep them secret? Yes. It is a reminder to keep things trusted to us in trust, to behave on the Square with one's Brother (yes, we call even our female members "Brother") and mankind. Eventually we learn to behave on the Square with ourselves. Pretty hard task.
Trust is a slender reed, my friends. Once broken, it is hard to mend. We instead work on accountability. We allow a person to join based upon what they have learned about the Order from outside reading and meeting women and men in our Lodge. No one enters just on a whim, knowing nothing.
We check out those who stand at the door. They must be of good repute, believe in a Supreme Being, at least 21, tolerant of folks of religions other than theirs, not slaves (including to drugs), and wish to change the world by changing themselves.
As to who is a Mason, in these times in the United States, you can find out pretty easily. The ring, a bumper sticker, the like. It is not much of a secret. But it may become one soon if the religious right continues to gain its way. Despots hate Freemasons. Hitler jailed us. The Catholic Church has tortured and burned us. There then becomes reason for secret handshakes, agreed? Freemasons believe in the equality of mankind, liberty to choose one's own government, and the right to peacefully assemble. Much of the US Constitution and Bill of Rights was based upon Masonic principles. Not good for tyrants.

What is "evil" about freemasons or other "secret societies" is that they will help their "fellow members" at the expense of common decency and what's right.
A government employee awards a contract to a "member", not the lowest bidder; a "member" gets a warning instead of being arrested by a pig; a president awards jobs and money to confederates, even if it destroys his country.
By the way, all religious cults such as christianity also fall into that group self-serving "societies".

I know nothing about the Masons secret codes. But the main reason why I probably know hardly anything about them at all, is because that always tell you that they cannot tell you anything that goes on in their meetings. To me, this is completely ridiculous. Because they want you to join, yet they will tell you absolutely nothing, before you join. And yet they claim to be a Christian organization. If they truly were such, why would they care to tell anyone what goes on during their meetings. Jesus told us to go and spread the gospel to the whole world; not to hide it from everybody else. I am not going to join an organization which will tell me nothing about what I am joining. I would advise no person to join the Masons organization. I see nothing Christian about it whatsoever; even though they may do good things for others. They always just tell you that you will know the reason why they could not tell you anything, after you join. I think this is completely crazy. As a matter of fact, I asked one highly-known Christian minister about the matter one time, and he told me to have absolutely nothing to do with joining the organization. For it was completely demonic. I have no reason to believe otherwise, since they will tell you nothing about what goes on in their meetings.

no these fraternal organizations are not evil. there is a vast difference between societies with secrets and secret societies. secret societies are sometimes so secret it is hard to discover they exist let alone their purposes or membership. societies with secrets include the Masons, Odd Fellows, Eagles, Knights of St. John, Knights of Columbus, Elks, Moose, Druids, etc. each of these fraternal orders have their own secrets in their rituals and ceremonies unknown to others not in the fraternity. did you know that Hitler wanted to ban Masonic meetings because he feared they would lead to an overthrow of the Nazi reign. those who attack these orders such as the Masons need to be more aware of what good they do before attacking them.

Groups like the Masons are harmless & are only considered "evil" because organized religions desperately need somebody to demonize. If every group that has secret codes / signals is "evil", then I guess sports teams, treasure hunters, & every major religion that I know of are servants of evil. One requirement for membership in the Freemasons is the belief in a higher power, their "crime" is that they don't pick one over the other.

Secret codes? Secret codes do not evil make. If that's the case, my locker at work is evil because I have to enter a combination to open it.

Any man-made organization can be evil. However, at the judgment, each person will stand on his own record, and whether or not he rejected the free gift of salvation through God's Son.

I suppose it's not for everyone. The people who join know what it is about and that's all that matters. As far as being evil no. As fasr as secret codes, secrets codes are pretty cool.
