No... It is a choice.

You weigh the data and come to a conclusion. What is so arrogant about that?

I saw a survey once that categorized people by their religion, Christian, Buddhist, Hindu, Muslim, Jewish, etc., etc., etc...Christianity had the highest percentage. However, when it was categorized Christian (believers) and non, then Christianity was far outnumbered. I think they had 20% and non was 80%. Then, you have to take into acct the thousands that just say they're Christian b/c they don't know what else to say, the Christians are a very small minority. But, you still believe you and you're kind are correct and the billions of ppl, past & present are going to Hell.
Also, I wonder, but admit there's no proof, how we came into being. But, I would think it would take a more complex system to make everything that exists as we know it than an individual who was perfect but somehow became bored enough to start creating things that constantly let him down.

It is arrogance; thinking you are too good for there to be God, thinking that there's no way we were created in another's image, and thinking they have the answers to everything yet are bitter and hateful (not all people who don't believe in God are bitter and hateful, but a vast majority are because they don't understand unconditional Love, since they've never experienced it from God).

People just don't like authority, as a previous answerer said. Everyone knows God exists, those who aren't Christian refuse to believe that it could be true because that means they wouldn't be in control anymore.

God does not torture us, to the very dilussioned poster up top. We have free will in everything and people kill people, people cause disasters. Not God. Do not blame God for your faults. That is pure arrogance.

So, you're saying that it's arrogant to think that the lack of empirical evidence for the proof of any gods implies that no gods exist.

But it's not arrogant to think that you not only know this, but know which god it is, and how he should be worshipped, and everyone else on earth not in your denomination is wrong. With no actual evidence.

To quote William Goldman, "I do not think it means what you think it means."

It's arrogant to think that what you believe is necessarily the truth. It's arrogant to make blanket statements about people because they don't believe what you do. It's arrogant to assume that your intepretation of your religion is the correct one. If you're Christian, do you really think Jesus is going to like your attitude? You know, that humble guy who hung out with the prostitutes and tax collectors? I'm fairly sure Allah and Yahweh had some choice words to say about people thinking they understand God and how the world works, too.

Why would it have to be arrogance to believe that we weren't created but are the result of natural evolution? I don't think that's arrogant. You may not choose to believe that, but that doesn't make those who do arrogant.

Is it arrogance that makes you not believe that Io created the universe, as the Maori believe? Or that the universe began as a big black egg, out of which Pan Gu hacked his way after sleeping inside it for eighteen thousand years, as one Chinese creation myth states?

People don't like authority, they feel as if they shouldn't have to answer to anyone else. When people say they don't believe in God they are lying because when something terrible happens to them who is the first one you blame. For most people it is God. People have bitterness in their hearts from hard living. I think a lot of people don't understand because they have never felt love from anyone, and don't understand how a god they can't see can love them so much. I am christian and I also believe that it depends on how you handle people you feel are arrogant. You can't win those people with anger, which is how most people deal with them, and you can't be hypocritical because that's what they are waiting for. You have to just love them until God wills them to him, because God has to call you.

Not arrogant. Sorry. And being a believer is not? Explain.

I don't think it's arrogance that causes them to not believe, it's selfishness. People don't want to surrender their life. They think they will have to give up EVERYTHING! They don't understand they will GAIN everything. We just need to always keep them in our prayers!

Actually, arrogance is more along the lines of putting others down and holding yourself above them.

Which is what you're doing by placing non-believers in some separate category and saying they're arrogant and ignorant.
