you do not want a sunroof... why because the drains become clogged with debris and the water drains into the interior of the vehicle and the interior of the vehicle is soaked with water...with this being said if your car is under warranty this is a free repair..
if you are out of warranty this is a costly repair...there is always the chance that his will happen.....you have to replace the carpets and pull out the interior of the vehicle that is wet...

I have a 99 VW Jetta. I bought the car in June 2003. In July 03 I opened the sunroof and two long parts fell out of it and it wouldn't close. I took it into the dealership, since I lived in Hawaii and it rained all the time, and they said it would cost over $600 to fix and wasn't covered on the warrenty. Great! So this guy came out to my car and cranked it shut thru a hidden compartment in the headliner.
Don't let a sunroof be a buying point in the car. It wasn't for me, it just came with it and it broke a month later.

I have had a sunroof, a t-top and a convertible. Get the sunroof if you live in an urban setting or in the north. They are more secure and mine has never leaked. If fabric tops don't wear out from the weather they'll usually get knifed by some idiots who could have simply opened the door. (never lock your doors if you have a convertible). T-tops need to be packed up each time you take them off and that's inconvenient. Sunroofs can be opened and closed in in a heartbeat. I LOVE mine.

Sunroof open at night with the A/C on. With a girl in the car. and by sunroof i think you really meant moonroof. sunroof are used for older cars, now and day they are moonroofs; panels of tempered glass, usually tinted, that tilt up to allow a flow of air, or slide back into the roof entirely, giving the car occupants a brief glimpse of life in a convertible. I have a moonroof on my 03' BMW 330ci, and leaks dont occur or any bad thing. it works fine with no problems so dont even worry about any of that. if you want the option and can afford it, then get it.

Dont buy a car with those sunroofs that you install yourself, it is best buy car with factory fitted steel panel sunroof (mechnical or electric), which is secure against intruders. In Florida I imagine that the weather will play a part in your decision making but wont the car have air con installed as do most cars there ?
