I am afraid that you are going to find these circumstances on about any job nowdays; unless you work for a Christian organization or company. Because the people of the world do not care how they talk, how they act, and certainly care nothing about Christian ethics. But if you are in such a situation, all that you can do is to pray for God to give you the boldness and the courage to speak up when you feel as though you should do so. I have been in these circumstances before. And all that I could do, was pray continually for God's help and direction. For I most certainly am going to try and do what pleases God, more than I try to please man. If your boss is giving you a hard time, because you want to be a Christian witness, then it is very obvious that he is the first one that you should start praying for; that God will touch his heart, and make him realize that He needs to be born-again. It may be possible that God is already working on him; but he just does not want to surrender unto Him. But do not give up. If there are people there who need to get saved, you may be the very one whom God has chosen to use to reach them. And if this is the case, He most certainly will open the doors for you to be able to do so. But you will most likely run into the same circumstances again, if you just quit your job and go to another one. If you allow God to live in your life, you may be the only witness that these lost people will ever be able to observe. Just pray sincerely, and God will show you what to do. And I will keep you in my prayers as well. May God bless you.

Can I be a person of non-faith and not slam you? Because I'm not into slamming people, despite my nonChristian-ness.
The Bible says to be in the world and not of the world. Unless you're living in a bubble, these things will always be around. There are going to be some jobs where you can get away from it, but they'll be few and far between. Remember: It's them doing it, not you, and if you believe that God will give you the strength to deal with it, then trust him in it. Try this: When you come up against something like this at work, run a prayer through your head. Doesn't have to be a long one, or an elaborate one. Do that long enough, and you'll find that any swearing makes you kick into auto-prayer mode--a very good thing in its way, as you learn to activate your defenses against it.

Like some other people said, if your co-workers really are that bad, then it seems that God put you there to set a good example for everyone else. Just don't act snobby, self-righteous, or conceded about it, because that will ruin your example.
If cursing bothers you, you can bring it up nicely, in a calm tone of voice, and say, please don't use bad language around me, I don't like it.
Every job has its share of believers and non-believers, unless you work for a church, so you cannot get away from it. And why should you? You may be the only Bible that someone will ever read.
on the other hand, if your boss is trying to get you to do something sinful, illegal, or improper in order for you to keep your job, that is a legal matter. Talk to a lawyer.
-----------edit-------------
If you want to sare your beliefs with your co-workers during your break or your lunch time, I believe that you are permitted to do so based on the First Amendment, as long as your co-workers do not mind you talking to then about religious subjects.

I understand that you don't want to be in a work environment where you are uncomfortable or just where you are surrounded by sin. There is no job that won't have that to some degree because we all still sin. But I agree with slickyboy. God may want to use you in a place like that to be His light. Welcome the opportunity and pray for strength that you can uplift the others around you instead of having them bring you down.
I work in my county's building department. There are alot of contractors that come through here that are pretty rough. Bad language, bad attitudes, no patience, etc. I just try to hlep them however I can and maybe they will remember our encounter. If there is an opportunity I talk to them about being a Christian too. Pray about it. God will show you where He wants you to be. (It took 2 and 1/2 months for me to get here.)

I work in an environment where this is all around me. We are to be in the world but not partake of these things that we know God hates. Sometimes I know God wants me to say something. Sometimes I just let Him do the convicting. I can't even count the number of times that some foul thing has come out of someone's mouth, and they'll see my face, knowing Who I represent, and they'll say, "Oops! Sorry!"
But then I work on an Indian Reservation (not for the casino - in fact, our department is not even funded by the casino but by federal grants). Native Americans have a lot more respect for Christians than most Anglos have these days. They may be naughty, but they recognize the power of God. The people come around where I work know I'm a praying woman, and many of them recognize that my prayers have benefitted them in some way. They just seem to have a lot more common sense that way.

I think that the only jobs I've had which were free of that kind of thing were for charities. Charities can't afford to pay well, so they are often in trouble when it comes to recruiting. Why not approach a few? Indicate an interest and ask if there is anything going? Could there be any church organisations which might be looking for staff where you live?

unfortunately, we aren't in heaven and things aren't perfect. I am a Christian and I have always worked with people who had no respect for the same things I did in life (such as God) but it's just a place to work. but I also believe that God sends us where we need to be, maybe you aren't working in a Christian setting, then it is your job to be a light for Christ. I am a cashier in a dept. store and I have the greatest opportunity to share God with everyone, even if it is to share a smile. I like to think that they walk away knowing God just a little bit better.
have you ever tried for a job in a local Christian bookstore? I know where I live they hire pastor's families, church members, and generally religious people. and they have prayer before the place opens... a non-believer wouldn't last too long there without feeling the need to move on. but I really suggest that you pray that God will send you where you are needed.. you might be surprised as you might be the one that God uses to lead someone to Christ.

I think you just have to understand we are int he world to be a light to it....most of our jobs will be dealing with unbelievers, and setting an example for them. This does not mean we will personally be happy, but we are there for a purpose. Whatever we do, we do "unto the Lord" and not to man. Do the best you can, and I hope you find something where you feel you are productive.
