When Old Sid was young he can remember kids suffering from impetigo running around with blue dye on their heads and arms. What happened to that disease?

I remember it well from when I was a child & when my son was about 3 [he's 19 now] we were swimming one day & a lady scratched him as she swam passed, that night it looked like a cigarette burn & within 24hrs it was all down one side of his back, not because we ignored it but because the dr gave him the wrong treatment. I think it's possibly something to do with a low immune system & although we don't see so much of it these days I'm sure it's still around.

I'm not sure what the blue dye you refer to is, but my son had a mild case of it a few years ago.
