I have always colored my hair with the same color. A few days ago I used a different color. I used one that is redder and lighter than the one I normally use. I think because my hair is a little dry it soaked up a lot of the red and it is too red now. I have washed it every day this week and color keeps washing out but its not getting any lighter. Does anyone know how I can non-chemically get some of this color out?

This is going to sound a little strange but I worked in a salon for 2 years. Go to the Store and buy some Dawn Dish Soap (the regular blue stuff). Lather this into your hair and let it sit for about 15 mins. If you do this for about 3 days your hair will lighten and you won't have any harsh chemicals in your hair!!

Non-chemically...... hmmm...
well, red color molecules are smaller than other colors, so washing in the hottest water you can possibly stand will help leach out some of the red. Also, try mixing a tablespoon or so of baking soda with 1/4 cup lemon juice and rubbing thru the hair and let sit for 15 mins. this is also very drying to the hair, so be sure to do hot oil or deep condition afterwards.
You can use a green base temporary color to help cover...... ask someone at a beauty supply to help choose one. (green is the opposite of red on the color wheel, so it helps "cancel" the red) the temporary colors (or "6 week rinse") do not contain peroxide, so are much less damaging to the hair. Good luck.

edit.....ps.
don't listen to this "jacksoul" person........ violet is a combination of RED and blue....... it is to cancel out GOLD tones (brassy hair) adding red will not help cancel red! And red molecules ARE the smallest, that's why reds (artificial red colors, that is) fade the fastest of all, and usually to keep red in we advise using the coldest water you can stand to close or seal the cuticle and keep them locked in)
I don't mean to "badmouth" someone else's answer, but her information is not correct. sorry.

First, I have to advise you to go to a professional ...cause I am one and I know that you will wind up doing something crazy to get the color out. Then you will have to go to a professional and then it's going to cost you more cause it is now considered a hair color correction.

That being said, The ONLY thing you can try is Joy liquid dishwater soap. If that doesn't work...which I doubt it will (red and black are the hardest colors to get out) You really do need to go to a salon and have them correct it. Be prepared to fork out quite a bit of money though. An after thought...see if you can have them just put a color (same level) over it. I have done that and it is less expensive for the client.

eventually the red will fade its the color with the biggest moliqule so the color doesnt stay in the hair for long. in the meen time you can get some conditioner from bioliage, they have color boosting kinds. get the brown one if you have dark red hair it will mask all the red, or the purple one if you have light red hair. its just a color conditioner so it wont be permanant. but the red will fade

Use dish detergent and then a good conditioner,it should fade out allot. Try to wait a while and then recolor the darker less red color.

just wait, it will come out eventually, or re-color it with a different color.
