The Navy takes care of its Sailors. When you join, you will receive an impressive array of benefits designed to keep you healthy, comfortable and secure. And the best part is that all of these benefits are above and beyond your Navy pay and allowances.

Among the most important benefits are those for your health. As a Sailor, you receive:
Full medical coverage and care in Navy or civilian facilities
Full dental coverage and care from Navy professionals
Your other benefits upon joining the Navy include:
Discounted travel
30 days paid vacation each year
Generous educational benefits
$250,000 life insurance policy for $16 a month or a $400,000 life insurance policy for $26 a month
Additional Benefits for Navy Officers:
Opportunities to earn advanced degrees at Navy expense
Use of officers clubs around the world
FOOD
How’s the food in the Navy?

The modern Navy recognizes the needs of an active, healthy force, and provides a range of options, including salad bars, fast food and full-balanced meals. Many Navy culinary specialists are graduates of the Culinary Institute of America or other prestigious school.

If you’re looking for a career that provides you with much more than a paycheck, then look to the Navy. In addition to base pay, the Navy provides:

Living accommodations or housing allowances
Free dining services or food allowances
A uniform allowance
Full healthcare benefits
In addition, Sailors at some duty stations are eligible for additional Cost of Living Allowances (COLAs). When you add it all up, your pay in the Navy will go a lot further than the same pay in a civilian job where your basic needs aren’t already covered.

Enlisted Pay Chart
In the Navy and all branches of the U.S. Armed Forces, pay is dependent upon rank (known as rate for enlisted personnel in the Navy) and years in service (see the chart below). Promotions depend on performance and time in service, and a Sailor has to earn an increase in rate. In general, you will be eligible for advancement from E-1 to E-2 after nine months, E-2 to E-3 after another nine months, and from E-3 to E-4 after a subsequent six months.

You are laying a strong foundation for your future when you join the Navy. Not only will you enjoy excellent training in high-demand fields, you will also have educational opportunities that propel you farther and faster down your career path.

The Navy offers excellent job security. When you sign your contract with the Navy, it also signs one with you. The Navy promises to give you the training you need and put you in positions where you will be challenged and can excel. The Navy promises to let you develop your leadership skills. And the more you give to the Navy, the more the Navy gives back to you.

Tens of thousands of people, both enlisted and officer, have made the Navy their lifelong career and have been rewarded for it. But even if you decide not to re-enlist, the Navy will continue to accelerate your career.

Employers will have strong incentives to hire you since you will have both excellent training and hands-on experience under your belt.

While in the Navy, you will learn both how to lead and how to execute the orders of others, allowing you to move into a range of positions.

The character, dedication and personal qualities developed while in the Navy are appealing to most employers.

ASSIGNMENTS
Will I spend all my time aboard ship?

Actually, when your ship is pier-side in the U.S. or in an exciting overseas location, you are able to go ashore at the end of the work day to enjoy your time off.

When you choose to leave the Navy, you will continue to receive assistance as a Navy veteran. This can include the services of the Veterans Administration in terms of finding employment or schooling, no-money-down and low interest loans for new homebuyers, preferential hiring for government jobs, and receipt of Montgomery G.I. Bill money for school if you choose to contribute during your enlistment.

If you make the Navy your career, your retirement benefits will be far greater. You will receive generous retirement pay, and you will continue to receive health benefits and on-base shopping privileges similar to those you enjoyed while on duty.

The Navy places a lot of value on education. We want Sailors and Officers who can both learn and teach — our demanding missions and high-tech work environment demand it. The Navy insists that all recruits have at least a high school diploma or equivalent and all Officers earn a college degree. The Navy encourages all Sailors to pursue their education. To help you, the Navy offers money for college, ways to pay off student loans, and even offers college courses on ships and bases.

You should have waited until you had your Bachelors degree then you would go in as a officer making a lot more money then a e3 I am prior military and I went in as a enlisted e2 and by the time i got out I was a ElO I converted to an officer as I went to school while I was in anyway the pay and the way you have to work is hands down so much easier. So maybe you can wait until you get your Bachelors degree the you will make more money and do less work and really do just about nothing at all but every two weeks the will give you money and every year you are guaranteed a pay raise. Anyway good luck and best wishes.
