my son goes to an all-boys private school because i make a lot of money and i can afford it.

the school is putting on a production of "romeo and juliet" and my son is trying out for the part of romeo.

im very worried that participating in something like theatre might make him gay, and id much rather him do something like play baseball. how do i explain this to him without crushing his dreams?

Just make sure he stays away from gay places like San Francisco, or Oregon, or Canada.

I reallt hope your kidding...or could you really be that stupid. Don't tell him not to participate. A school play can't 'make' someone gay. Also he's your son and you should love him no matter what! By the way have you turned on tv ? There are plenty of actors who are not gay. He's probaly only doing Romeo and Juliet so that he gets a chance to make out with Juliet seeing as how you put him into an all boys school.

How in the world will a production of Romeo and juliet make him gay? You should have worried that going to an all boys school would do that if that was the case. Let your son do what his heart is guiding him to do. If he has been bitten by the acting bug, let him act for crying out loud. Your question sounded very lame and so does your excuse. He might be very good at it.

Oh my god just because some one is gay doesn't mean life is over... I wan in a theater company for a long time and in the time that I was there... there as only 1 gay guy and 2 Bisexual guys... just because it's theater doesn't make them gay.

I wouldn't worry about it so much.. I know plenty of guys that went to an all boys school and were in theater that love females as much as any guy that played baseball and went to a co-ed school...

no those are your dreams OK you said you don't want him to be gay
the first wrong thing is you put him in a school with all boys hello that will make him gay surrounded by boys, OK if he wants to act let him act maybe one day he will be a big actor that's allot of money to let him do what he want ,that's a way your not crushing his dreams but really why is he in a all boy school now think about it you think theater is gay and being around boys and nothing but boys isn't

I don't think you should have any worries. . .theater may turn him into a big Hollywood Actor. . .do you think all these actors were found in their small towns playing baseball??? I don't think that you should really worry about the gay part. . ..unless they make romeo and juliet kiss. . .and they are both males, I think i would have a problem with that. . ..I would just talk to him and explain to him what may happen in the end if he gets the part!

You shouldn't be worried that performing in theatre is going to influence his sexuality. Even if by some off chance that does happen, he is still your child and deserving of your love and understanding. Let him be a child while he can and chase those dreams and participate in those activities which make him happy. Life is too short and children grow up way too fast!!

I went to an all girls school when i was younger. single sex schools often offer the best education for children since they arent focused on impressing the opposite sex. that said, how would acting in a play make him gay?! that is so extremely ignorant of you. think of how many successful sexy male actors there are out there. So russell crow is gay? brad pitt? shakespeare wasnt gay either!! besides, if he is gay, then he was born gay and no school, play or money will change that!

Being in a play won't make him gay. Chicks will probably dig it.
I went to an all boy school and had an all girl sister school that we socialized with. I never played sports and was into film & Tv production. I met alot of girls doing this.

Are Brad Pitt, Sean Pean, or Ben Affleck gay? they act. Being in theatre will not make him gay. You should be happy that he has the self confidence to get up in front of people and act. Most kids don't have the confidence and it's lack of self esteem that cause a lot of problems, including pervertedness as they dont' have the confidence to get a girl. Be happy for him!

Don't you know that a person is born gay? Just as a person who is homosexual is born straight? I've had plenty of male friends who were in school plays. At least he is not trying out for Juliet. !!! Take a chill pill, mom. It's acting. Give the kid a break.
