I've never known dandruff to cause this. This sounds like a medical problem. My little nephew's hair was splitting and falling out; it turned out he was getting into and eating poison! Have this checked out with your doctor.

My husband uses Head & Shoulders and swears by it. They have come out with new formulas for their shampoos - they are not as harsh, smell really good. You might try this, but I would still follow-up with a doctor.

My first suggestion would be to see a dermatologist, if you haven't already. They may prescribe some topical treatments, or shampoos.
Shampoo: You will probably need to test a few before finding one that works best for your hair

Coal-tar preparations (Neutrogena T/Gel, Tegrin)
Pyrithione zinc (Suave Dandruff Control, Pert Plus Dandruff Control, Head & Shoulders)
Salicylic acid and sulfur (T-sal, lonil T, Sebulex)
Selenium sulfide (Selsen, Exsel)
Ketoconazole (Nizoral A-D) available as a 1% over the counter shampoo and a 2% prescription strength shampoo

-leave shampoo lather on scalp for 2 mn. then rinse, and repeat this 2-3 times.
-you may have to alternate shampoos on a bi-weekly basis
-let hair dry naturally instead of blow drying, as often as possible
-try using 100% tea tree oil on your scalp. Just add a dap of oil to finger and part hair. Run your finger down your scalp, do this to the entire head of hair.

You could be shampooing your hair too often, you could be under a lot of stress, or you could have a rare disease or disorder. Switch shampoos and wash your hair every other day for a couple weeks, see if there is a difference.

Did you just have a baby? How old are you? As we age, our bodies change and after having a baby, a women's body changes. Hair falling out is natural, as long as it is not an extreme amount more than what usually falls out.

If you are really concerned, go see a doctor.

dandruff will not break your hair off or cause it to fall out. rough treatment of the hair, and chemically burning the hair will break it off. sounds like you might have something going on internally. go to the doctor first, if it is internal you need to treat what is causing this to happen. as for a shampoo or conditioner, use very gentle products and be very gentle on the hair until your dr can determine the problem. then take it from there.

Are you using anything on it, like a coloring agent or have you just had a perm? You could have damaged it that way. Try cutting it short to reduce breakage and see a local beauty shop. By the time you find a home remedy you could be bald.

I have psoriosis. I feel your pain. I used T Gel. It has a tar smell so I used a frag. conditioner.
Also, some shampoos and cond. have chemicals that will strip your hair. You should change shampoos often.
Head and Shoulders silk and shine is good also.
Hope this helps.
