I usually soak the stained area of the uniform in water first to loosen the stain, when I wash it I use the Oxy Clean powder rather than bleach it, it safer to use than bleach and it doesn't fade the colors, but it does well in removing the stain.

or you could put the stained area in water mixed with Oxy Clean (about a spoonful should work) and let it soak, then wash it.

Get down to your local fabric store. As a group, the employees there have forgotten more about stains than you ever wanted to know. They can help you if you want. Some specific products to look for:
For particular kinds of stains, Carbona Stain Devils are the best there is. The generic Carbona Stain Wizard pre-wash is almost as good. There's another generic stain product called Gonzo that's useful.
I have used these products, and recommended them to other people many times. They work.

Spend $3 on a Clorox bleach pen. I also like Resolve, Stain-guard...they are spray on stain treatments. I also bleach my gi once a month. (If you do not have a heavy weight gi bleach may destroy it.)
In the future I recommend you wear regular clothes to train outside. Gi's are expensive and required for class, while a pair of work-out shorts can get all stained up with no worries.

Throw about a tablespoon of salt in the wash with your detergent (and bleach if your gi is white). The salt will help you get out any stain due to its abrasiveness. I have tried this on all kinds of garments to get out everything from vomit to blood stains, as well as getting out red dye that came off a red sweatshirt onto all kinds of clothes. It works very well.

I'm assuming it is white,so I recommend using the Clorox bleach pen on it.I use it on my collar when I get sweat on it and it works great.I've also heard the Tide to Go pen is great as well.

bleach it. Most are white so bleach should be fine. If it's a light color then try some of that new bleach for colors.

FYI, it's called a "gi" or "kimono" not karate suit.

why bother. Your gi is supposed to get dirty. It isn't like you are going to be wearing it to a deputaunt ball or something.
