You can gap them about 17-18 thousands (.017-.018) ,but they might be off some. If you have a dwell meter and you can set the dwell angle at 30-32 degrees. A trick I have used for years is, after you lube the cam the points ride on sparingly, take a dollar bill, and pull it through the points to clean them. There is something about paper money that cleans all residue off them, and it will fire every time. Have fun!!

You can set it between 0.14 and 0.20mm.Most of the vehicle in that era used about the same points setting.

a 1978 codge does not have points it has a pickup and reluctor in the distributor it has asetting of 0.005
