My soon to be sister in law needs ideas for her Father/Daughter dance. Though she is close to her paternal family, her biological father has never been there for her...now that she's getting married, he wants to be recognized as her dad. He's kind of a nutcase. Her stepfather, who has raised her since about 6 months of age will be walking her down the aisle and dancing with her for the father/daughter dance. Any suggestions? Her biological father will be there, and she's afraid to hurt his feelings, but wants to make this day special for her and her stepfather, as he is the only dad she remembers. Now she's trying to find the right song. Please be serious here. Thanks!

My Girl is always a good choice. I am in the same situation. My grandfather is walking me down the aisle and I never knew my biological father. I still wanted to include my step-father even though he was never really like a dad to me. I am having two dances. One with my grandfather and one with my step-dad. Louis Armstrong 'What a Wonderful World" is great too.

I had the same exact problem. My biooloigaicla dad never had much to do with me or my 2 year old twin boys and when I got engaged he all of sudden decided it was his RIGHT to walk me down. I refused and it caused a huge fight. He showed up the ceremony (eventhough he was uninvited after calling me every name in the book for not letting him walk me down) and brought his also not invited backstabbing gf..........ANYWAY Heree's the point.. (sorry)

We used the song "For once in my life" by Michael Buble
Other suggestions would be: I hope you dance by leann womack
Promise her anything but give her love by dean martin

They have some great ideas!

I wasn't very close to my dad, and I just got married in June. WE danced to "Daddy's hands" by Holly Dunn. You might go with something generic, like "Thank Heaven For Little Girls" or Disney's "A Dream is a Wish Your Heart Makes" something that doesn't come off too fakey, if the relationship is strained.

Definately "I Loved Her First" by Heartland !!! I have the same situation with my 'sperm donor',my step-father raised me (with mom's help). I will always see my step father as my real dad and as far as he is concerned I will always be his baby girl, now that I have a daughter that looks and acts just like me she is moving in on him quick but there will ALWAYS be that father daughter bond between us. The way I look at it her real father never cared about her feelings why should she on her special day!

Butterfly Kisses is a real heart-wrencher. By the way, the bride's dad needs to recognize that if he hasn't been there all these years, he has no right to intrude upon her day now. She needs to tell him to accept her decision and behave himself, or don't show up at all. It's her day and she doesn't need her dad mucking it up and making a scene.

If she is looking for a song that honors her relationship with her stepdad without insulting her real dad, then I suggest staying away from any song about fathers and daughters.

How about "Because you loved me" by Celine Dion?

I'd say go with whatever song she feels is best and not to worry about what her biological dad thinks. This is her day, not his.
