Heinz tomato soup for when I'm ill. Fried Bubble and Squeak with tomato ketchup when I'm fed up, hungover or just fancy it.
If you've never had it "Bubble" is boiled spuds and greens - potatoes and cabbage, broccoli, whatever you've got - mashed together thoroughly and shallow fried, in a patty shape, in bacon fat or vegetable oil until the outside starts to go all crispy and brown.
People used to - and still do! - cook up any left overs from Sunday roast dinners like this so it was often a dinner on Monday.
You can add what you like, carrots, swede, onions and season it too but for maximum comfort there HAS to be sauce. My favourite is good old tom K but HP, Daddies, any spicy brown sauce is just as good.
I'm off to make some now.......!

Most anything my dear momma used to make!
She made everything from scratch.

Some of my favorites...
Baked macaroni & cheese
beef roast, with onions, carrots, potatoes & gravy
Chicken Noodle or Beef Vegetable Soup with bread or rolls
Baked Cheesecake
All kinds of wonderful desserts, pies, cakes, cookies etc...

She made everything with love!!!

Momma's gone now going on 2 years in a couple of weeks.
I miss her.
She was the best cook & baker I have known!!!

Chicken & Dumplings, or homemade chili. Yum! In fact, I wish the weather would cool off so I could make either one! Just can't eat either one when it's 95 degrees outside!
