I would think an anti-depressant would HELP you lose weight. I even think they're used sometimes for that very reason! When we're depressed we tend to lay around and sleep a lot...when we're happier we become involved in more activities (even if that means you take a shower every day and keep your house clean, wash the car, etc) All those things that you just didn't have energy for before, suddenly you want to go do!

I've been on anti depressants for almost 2 years and I actually lost 20 pounds in the first year. Some of them cause your appitate to decrease so you will eat less than normal. If your Dr. prescribes one that makes you gain weight let him know an he will probably try something different. DO NOT, I repeat, DO NOT stop them yourself!!! This causes the depression to return worse than before. Be open with your Dr. about all the side effects you experience and he will be able to find the right meds for you. Good Luck!!

I wouldn't take them if I were you, this is your life and you want to live it awake don't you? Some people gain weight, some people lose weight. Depends on the person. You really don't need medication though! You can find joy and happiness out of the simpliest things in life! I was given zoloft one time, and I threw it all in the garbage.
