Split ends will always develop over time, after a haircut, but if they are still there, directly after a haircut, the stylist did a bad job.
After you're next cut, there shouldn't be any.
Haircare is the most important. Use gentle or mild shampoo's, and try to only wash the scalp and the roots of the hair, not the tips. Always use a conditioner on the tips of the hair. You don't need to put conditioner on the roots, you're body will produce natural sebum, to keep the roots moisturized.
Next styling product. You could be using the wrong type of brush. Use one with natural bristles instead of one with plastic bristles.
If you use hairdryers/straightening irons, try and put them on a cooler setting, and take days off from using them. Like letting you're hair dry naturally when you have the opportunity.
Also, treat yourself to a hot oil or a "hair mask" treatment occasionally. You can do it at home, and you will definitely notice the difference.
Good luck, hope this helps.

Have you dyed/highlighted/or permed your hair lately? Doing this is damaging to your and you will just have to wait til it grows out.

It may be time for a CUT to get rid of all the split ends.

Also try switching your shampoo/conditioner. Treseme makes a set specifically for split-end and breakage.

Really the only way to get rid of split ends is to get hair cut it sounds like to me that you didn't get enough taken off your hair cut. After you get them cut off then you need to start working on how to keep them off. Like hot oil treatments, cholesterol treatments, regular hair trims and maybe change your brush it could be doing damage to your hair. Even the way you are washing your hair maybe damaging it, plus if you put your hair in a towel after you shower and twist the towel you are breaking hair off. Good luck on getting your hair straightened out.
