Ex: Walkers (for babies) were invented long ago, to help a lil one toddle around before learning to walk. They have since been banned. WHY? Because some parents can't keep an eye on a small baby that can't even WALK yet?

Folks want to villianize the internet and "MySpace" and other web sites, for preying on their children, but won't take the computer out of the child's room or perhaps even LOOK at what a child is doing online.

I agree, to me it ranks right up there with some states governing what you can and can't do in the privacy of your own bedroom. It's crazy, are they going to tell us when we can pee and when we can't? My oldest daughter loved her walker!!! She went everywhere in that thing and started walking on her own at 10 months, so I dont believe this b/s about them walking later and delayed developement. All three of my daughters used then and not one of them walked later than normal.

I totally agree. I used to get all of my reviews for products on babiesrus.com before buying anything. I was so upset by some of the user reviews.

For example: A lady gave a high chair a horrible review because she didn't buckle her son into the highchair and left the room. He took of the tray and fell out. She went on a rant on how horrible the product was because of this!

I was so mad! It's like if you make a mistake that's okay. BUT don't blame it on the product. As for MySpace--I know exactly what you are talking about. If a parent wants his/her child not to be molested, stalked, or preyed upon--then MONITOR the child's page and keep the computer in an area where people are constantly going in and out of.

Sorry it turned into a rant. I really feel strongly about this!

But even if the computer was taken away, doesn't stop them from accessing that from a school or a library. So really those sites should be banned. Just because they affect us brighter and older ones from using it, it's really to protect the young ones.

I can understand the walker though. Having babies is a 24/7 watching system!

I totally agree with what you are saying. No one wants to take responsibility for their kids. No wonder kids don't want to take responsibility for their own actions, or even work nowadays. My kids will never have a computer or T.V. in their room. We're not even sure we will let them play video games. I know that sounds extreme to some people, but I am not going to raise a little criminal, or video game addicted junkie. I say parents should stick to their guns and don't feel "bad" for not giving in on these issues.

Sometimes the government has to protect the people from themselves, and protect the children from their potentially retarded parents.

A child shouldnt have to take the fall for poor parenting, sometimes laws as in place to insure better parenting skills in parents.

But i do agree, if people had more brains between their ears and less air maybe we wouldnt need to waste time and money on such laws.

You are right. It seems logical that we should be able to "govern" ourselves. But we are not. In fact, humans are pack animals like dogs, and not independent like cats.
We require leaders to govern the actions we take in a lot of instances. We delegate authority, and really that gives us a lot more free time.

As long as we retain the right to choose our leaders we will be okay.

Walkers actually delay a toddlers motor skills and children who use walkers actually walk later than those who do not.
