First of all - not absinth ever - I believe that is still illegal to bring into the US.

Otherwise check the US customs web site for liquor limitations and with the airline security for what they allow on a plane. He has recently changed.

Once upon a time you could bring up to 2 bottles of wine or booze ...a limited amount without paying duty tax.

Usually you can take a specified number of bottles with you. Ask at the duty-free liquor store before you buy it. I don't know if absinthe falls in a unique category that has added restricctions.

see the US Customs website. some alcoholic drinks in specific volumes can be purchaed and returned to the US without paying taxes. if the limit (volume) is exceed, you will have to pay a small "import" fee to legal bring it into the US. however, some beverages (absinth being one I think) is not allowed to be brought into the US legally, much like Cuban cigars.

You can't take alcohol in the US with you because your under 21. Even though your legal in Germany your not legal in the US so they would take it from you at the customs. When i came back from Mexico they said I could not bring any in the US with me luckily i had someone over 21 who could take it in for me.

the airlines have changed the rules that you can only bring liquids that have been purchased in their "secure" areas so as long as you purchase it in the Duty free shop you should be okay.

call the airport or airline to make sure.

have a safe flight home. i loved being in Germany!
