i want to join the marines and my family wants me to join too but i think i may have trouble getting into the marines because im a woman what do you think i should do??? if i did make it and i got to do what i want to do then i would be the first woman to do it in the marines ever!!!

Go see a Marine recruiter. There are lots of women in the marines. Who ever told you women were not allowed is an unreliable source and should never be listened to again. However don`t count on being a front line shooting marine. You will be able to shoot but not as a kick in the door face to face, ear biting, rip out their heart, fighter. That is reserved for the 175 lb tough as steel trained male killers. They don`t want women doing that because the natural instinct of males is to protect women they are with. Your presence could jeopardize the mission as 4 or 5 men might try to rescue or protect you instead of completing the mission. The mission is everything. If captured you wouldn`t be killed like the males would be. You would be repeatedly raped first just as the 4 women captured in the first Gulf war were. One female Army pilot was raped even though she had a broken nose, 2 broken arms, and a broken leg. Remember the enemy we are fighting today hate women, especially you. The Marines will let you drop bombs on them, shoot missles at them, and kill them in a mulitude of ways. Just not up close and personal. Proportionately, I had far more disciplinary issues with the male enlisteds than I did with the female enlisteds.

I stress "on average" above because there are always exceptions to the rule. For example, some of my female staff were stronger than some of my male staff.
