There's more good water to fish near Houston than you can fish in a lifetime, most of it's less than a stone throw away.

For good saltwater fishing go to Freeport. They have great fishing their along surfside and they also have jetties. For fresh water fishing go north towards Lake Conroe or Lake Livingston. Livingston is still low from the dam damage during Hurricane Rita but the fishing is still good.

I'm going to have to go with Galveston....hello, big bay! You can even fish off of the jetties along the seawall if you don't have a boat.
