"The Harvey Wallbanger is an alcoholic drink or cocktail made with vodka, Galliano, and orange juice.

This well known tipple was one of many cocktails invented by renowned and two times world champion mixologist Donato 'Duke' Antone. Other notable 'Duke' creations are the Rusty Nail, The Godfather and the Flaming Caesar. This is one of many cocktails invented by 'Duke' in Los Angeles during the 1950s.

According to legend, Harvey was a California surfer. After losing an important contest, he consoled himself in Duke's Blackwatch bar with one of his 'special' screwdriver cocktails, (a screwdriver with a dash of Galliano liqueur). After several drinks, he tried to leave the bar, but unfortunately kept bumping into the furniture and walls. Harvey 'the Wallbanger' became his nickname and the famous drink was named."

Wow, I haven't heard of that drink since I was a kid. My parents drank it all the time. I just remember the tall bottle of booze (Idon't know what it was) that they always had around for making the good old Harvey Wallbanger. My dad use to bang walls when he drank it - ha ha ha.

Do you remember when they used to call a drink a "high ball"?

Oh my gosh, I haven't heard that drink in ages. What really makes in unique is if you add a little beer to it. I know it sounds strange, but it cuts the sweetness. It's incredible. My family owns restaurants and we named this a Bailey Banger. Try it!
