I've seen all this stuff all over the place too. BUT like another poster said you are using OLD facts. I've talked at length with a neighbor of mine about this (he's a double amputee....lost his legs in Vietnam) as well as with some of the guys in my husband's unit who have serious injuries and none of them have had any issue with the care they've been given. And as an army wife I've actually seen better care being given to the families and to those on active duty over the past 2-3 years. I'm sure there are those who aren't satisfied with their care (just like with civilian drs) but most of those I know are.
As for fact #3 I know for a fact that they did NOT cut that pay. My husband was deployed last year and he got that higher pay so maybe you ought to look up facts that are more current!
As for fact #4 every single guy I know has said they do NOT want to wear all that stuff. They all say it's too cumbersome and leads to heat exhaustion b/c it doesn't breathe properly so it makes wearing it a liability. (this from infantry soldiers)

Administration Seeks $70.8 Billion for VA in 2006

February 7, 2005

WASHINGTON – Secretary of Veterans Affairs Jim Nicholson announced today that President Bush will seek a record $70.8 billion in the fiscal year 2006 budget for the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), with the overwhelming majority of these resources targeted for health care and disability compensation.

“This budget demonstrates the President’s ongoing commitment to provide the very best health care and benefits to those veterans who count on VA the most,” Nicholson said.

Your "facts" are quite wrong. And I dare you to argue with me since we've been in the Army 18 years. We've had better pay raises every year since Clinton got out of office. Clinton forced the huge cutbacks we have in troops and installations. What weapons and such we lacked, it was because Clinton cut out and Bush had to try to restock. As for VA care, it depends on where you are. Many areas leave alot to be desired, but many don't. My dad was in the Air Force many years ago and gets excellent VA care.

Also, your figures on all the combat pay is incorrect. We've actually had in increase in these. Family separation used to be $75 at one time. It is currently $250. Hostile fire pay is $225. If you can read REAL FACTS, check out the 2006 pay chart.

Also, for your information, these are cuts that Congress proposed, not the president directly. Next time you try to post, come with informed facts that are recent, not something that proves how ignorant you are.

I know for a fact that FACT #1 is b.s. I work at a VA hospital and by no means are we cutting benefits. Veterans returning from OIF/OEF are getting two free years of medical benefits at any VA hospital or clinic in the country. All the other facts are over 3 years old, and I doubt many of them are true anyway.
