I am looking at getting a camcorder but don't seem to understand why panasonic has the cheaper 3CCD camera's on the market. Are theirs not that good? And then there is the optical zoom on these cameras. Its only 10x. Whats up with that?

Panasonic and National depending on what country you live in are all made by Matsushita Electric of Japan.

Matsushita has patents on electronic devices that have allowed them to make competitive components for a lower price than their competitors.

hey it doesnt mean they suck. it means their awesome because they can offer higher quality 3ccd video at a fraction of the price. if you plan on getting one of their prosumer cams, go for dvx-100a. hope this helps!
