The use of the goverment is to protect society and keep public order. We still have free will. We can work any kind of job that we want if we choose to get the education for that job. Women and Men both can get an education, we have the right to vote and so on.
Free will does not mean we have the free will to go out and kill someone, steal from people and so on.
If we didn't have the goverment then some of us would steal from others and not have a thing to worry about expect for the victim when he/she come's and burns our house down.

In having free will, there has to be rules, or laws, to govern how that free will is used.
Do you want to live in a society that has no rules, and if someone feels like killing you, they can? I would not like it.
In order to maintain order and a society to survive, there must be laws. And a governing body insures the laws are fair and consistant throughout. Otherwise rules would change from house to house. Government - some form of government - is needed or a civilization will not survive.

See, you're not the only one who has free will, others has it too. The government exists to set out guidelines and enforce them so that as possible clashes between your free will and others' can be prevented, and so that if clashes do happen they can be resolved in a fair way.
Well, the government isn't foolproof, but anyway that's what it's intended for.

It's a semi-free country. The federal government was originally formed to prevent invasion of foreign army's and to mediate on issues of trade between the states.

Every decision you make limits your "free" will. In reality there is no such thing as "free" will. There is a cost for every decision. Once made that decision allows you to make others, but also closes the door on some.

Government protects people from each other. I used to think Thomas Hobbes' "state of nature" was a simplistic myth, but look at Iraq, which has effectively has no government. 100-150 are killed each DAY, and danger is everwhere.

You have free will to kill a man. Than the society also has the freewill to come after you and make you pay for it.
It has nothing to do with freewill and everything to do. You can use your Freewill to do what you want. Then you will have to deal with the consequences of other people's freewills.

The government has to exercise that free will right. You are free but has limitiation with the right as you must do the right things in life.

if you chose to do what ever your free will allows, then you also chose the consequence that comes along with your free will decisions. Chaos would ensue if there was no governing entity to set guidelines and laws.
