It can only be offensive if it were true.

Everyone needs a job. His was to write a book.
If people take offence to it then they may have issues they cannot resolve inside themselves.
Make sense?
Being secure is more important.

When one has knowledge, they are not easily offended. I have heard all these conspiracy things before. I wonder about the truth in some things.
The Vatican has stores of records about magic and things. That have been suppressed over the years. And thats a good thing. Because if we knew how powerful we are as physical/spiritual beings, along with human nature to be jealous, envious and want revenge, we would have destroyed oursleves by now.
But I feel they need to GET WITH THE PROGRAM! Christ said there is nothing we won't find out about before He returns. We will be without excuse. Noone will be able to say he or she didn't
know any better.

No, the da Vinci code did not offend me. A lot of what is said is misquoted or wrong, but I certainly didn't take offence. Why would I?

No. I just feel sorry for all those lost sheep whose faith was low, for they just got pulled down even lower. By the way, The Da Vinci Code is really Satan's code, the god of this system of things. Anyone that produces such garbage or partakes in any way in such satanic works is driven by greed and by Satan, including Tom Hanks. By the way, I did not read the book, nor did I waste my money on the movie-holy spirit kept me free from such filth....KECK

I'm Catholic, and NO not at all offended. You see, unlike many people who either don't think and can't, I KNOW the book and film were merely FICTION. Although Dan Brown used some factual places and names and some not so factual places and names, the truth is, the book was and is merely fanciful fiction. What I personally find offensive was the whole hand wringing affair by the Pope and others to make out to be more than what it was.

It did. Not because it was a back slap to my religion, but because there are people out there, of my religion and not, who will accept this peice of fiction as fact. It's ok to say that every principle that the Catholic faith has been built around is false, so says society. Do you honestly think that this book would have been as popular if it tore down the Jewish faith, or if it were written in the POVof a nazi who honestly believed that Jews were evil and stated so in the book? No! But because it ripped the Catholic faith to shreds (and was supported by other Christian religions who don't like the catholic faith) it was ok! That offends me!

Yes,

Because it portrays Jesus and Mary in an incorrect light. It is fiction, but some people will think there is some fact to it.

Same as the Republicans not liking Fahrenheit 9-11 and the Liberals not liking the recent movie about Clinton's bumbles.

It is offensive when people mis-represent you to promote false ideals.

No matter who is doing it to who.

Peace!

Not particularly. Far worse examples of anti-Catholic fiction have been written. Jack Chick's trash for example is offensive, but you have to consider the abject bigotry and utter ignorance of the man. At least Mr. Brown can fabricate a halfway decent story.

I still wonder why people made such a big deal about this book. The Last Temptation of Christ had a similar story and so have other novels. They are novels. Churches making such a big deal about them only adds credibility to them for people who love conspiracies. It is a fun book to read. Why would anyone think it is truer than any of his other novels?

Naw. I'm a Christian myself and I take no offense. It's just FICTION but a lot of people got carried away with it. My friend said that she didnt' want anything to do with it because it could cause people to beleive the wrong things. Such is the case with any book though is what I say. No one condemned the Rosemary's baby movie though. :o(
