Teach him an alternate behavior such as sitting. When dogs jump it is an attention seeking behavior. It is perfectly normal and acceptable in the canine world to jump all over one another when you meet. The best way to stop this kind of behavior is to ignore the dog when he jumps. Turn your body away from the dog and do not make any contact with him at all. The means no yelling, no grabbing his paws, no knees to the chest, etc. The reason for this is that to dogs attention is attention irregardless of if it is possitive or negative. So any reaction to your dogs jumping may only encourage and reinforce the jumping behavior. Once the dog tries to get your attention another way be it by sitting or simply standing camly at your side give the dog attention and praise. If he gets up again simpy repeat the process, eventually with time and paitence he will get the point.
When he is jumping on other people put your dog on a lead before he interacts with anyone. Place your dog into a sit before you let someone into your house or approach you. Only allow that person to interct with your dog when he stays sitting camly at your side. If he gets up ask the person to step back place your dog back into a sit and try again. Make sure that when the person can come up to you that they give the dog plenty of attention and make a fuss over him being calm and sitting. By doing this you are going to make sitting a much more rewarding behavior and will find your dog doing it more and more over time. Good luck, I hope that this will help you.

you don't need to physically touch him.
any attention you give him be it a firm "no" or even a "nudge" in his chest with your knee is attention and he will see it as a reward and keep doing it.
simply ignore him. if he jumps up, turn away from him and do not make eye contact, the once he has settled, THEN give him attention by rewarding him with a treat.
reward the good behaviour, ignore the bad.he will learn.
a good aid to this is a clicker.
my young dalmation was the same, a very very clever dog, but could be boisterous.
be persistent and consistent.
he'll be fine.

A well-trained dog makes everyone happy, including his owner. Take a little time training him, and you'll never regret it; you'll always have an obedient dog by your side. Find more https://tr.im/cbcix
By their nature, dogs are pack animals with a well-defined social order. Through basic training, you need to consistently make sure your puppy understands that you are the leader, not him. So in teaching him the basic rules, you take on the role of pack leader.
To fit into the family circle, your dog must be taught to recognize his name and such commands as come, heel, lie down and sit.

ignore its behaviour. if out and about try getting a head collar (easy leader) as this gives you better control, if someone is coming along make them sit and stay, if they jump up correct and say no. at home when guest come explain they and you must go in and ignore the dog, as they jump turn your back to them. lots of shouting etc will re-inforce their behaviour (although negatively) as they still gaining a reaction. in general make them understand the no command. you could also try using a shaker (plastic bottle with a few little stones in) as they jump up give it a shake and say no, the noise startles them (not badly) but breaks the cycle enough to give you the split second to enforce the no command. good luck!!!

I've been having this problem with my lab - he doesn't jump up at me or family members but he jumps up at strangers. Turning your back on him, facing the opposite way & ignoring him for a few seconds as soon as he does it, is meant to stop him doing it, but getting other people to do that is the difficult part. Good luck. :)

If he jumps up on you too, the next time he does it bring your knee up in front of yourself; don't kick the dog but just nudge him. This will throw him off balance but not hurt, and he thinks he did it himself by just jumping too boisterously. If he only jumps on other people, get a friend to help you with this.
This may take a few days but he will stop.

Hi there, if a dog is constantly jumping up on you, next time he does it, hold his paws untill you feel him wanting to get away, and keep doing this untill he gets the message, trust me! works 99% of the time, they get the ideae, it just takes a while. Just hols his/her front paws gently in your hands, without letting them go, untill you feel them resist,, and reward them for not jumping up with a small treet, or a little cheese. Old dogs can actaully learn lots!

dogs are like humans in which if you condone or praise certain behavior they will keep doing it
if you want the dog to stop doing this then you need to scold it EVERYTIME it jumps up. Over a small period of time you will notice he does it less and less. He might even catch on quickly and stop all together.

OK, I am trying to answer your question, respectively. My experience has lead me to believe that the knee thing works, the turning your back method works and PLUS, there is a contraption you can buy to stop him from jumping. It is in Petedge.com, you can order it online or request a catalog. It refrains your dog from jumping, but he'she can easily walk around. Hope it works.

My dog used to do that all the time. What you need to do is when she jumps on you or any other person have the person or you (whoever it is) say, "No sit". If the dog still jumps on you then turn your back on the dog until he sits. you might want to try a clicker if you can't get the dog to sit.
