I am looking for a man to date and marry and grow old with. It seems everyone mentions long term relationship or lover in their personals ads and I know most of them are talking about that in reference to marriage. I am not the type of personal who could just live with someone and I want more for myself than to be used that way. I am somewhat conservative and come from a conservative family and that kind of living arrangement would cause me conflict with my family. I am over 40 and don't have to listen to my family but do want to heal a strained relationship with them. I don't have my whole life in front of me as I am not a teenager any more. I don't want to waste time with guys that don't want the same thing and have the same standards as I do. I know I can't dare mention marriage in a profile as I would scare all the men away as I guess they must all be players, but I need to know how to get the point across from the beginning so I don't end up wasting time.

What you have just addressed in your question holds all the keys to your personal ad.

Attractive, 40+ female with high standards seeks morally conservative male for a serious relationship...players need not apply!

You can flesh this out to include your other specifics but you need to use words like standards, conservative, morals and serious in your ad. Don't mess around...be clear about what you want and you should weed out the morally challenged.

I think you are putting way too much pressure on yourself and on the guys you haven't met yet. Dating should be fun and a way to get to know people. Why do you want to married? Is it because 'you' want to or because of outside influences? I'm going to put it this way: no one wants to feel like a peg. As for your ad, keep it light and fun. As far as selecting a guy, trust your instincts. Immediately delete those who don't give you a genuine response or only send a picture...no matter how cute he is. Get a book called 'Why Men Marry B!tches'. It's hilarious and not meant to be taken literally but there is some great advice in there.

Here's a suggestion for your personal ad:
"Attractive, Independent 40+ woman Seeks a man to Date, Marry, & Grow old with. He is conservative, & knows how to be nurturing, loving, & caring."

Fill in more details if you think it necessary.

I don't recommend that you keep the word of marriage out of your ad if you are fishing for a man to marry in the 1st place.
After all, you don't want to fill your pond with Carp, when you are trying to catch a Trout.
