A female would never have survived sitting in the temple talking with the priest of the time. A female would never have made it to 30 with the thoughts and ideas that Jesus went around talking of. It would make an impact now, but, then it would have never gotten as far. Look at what happened to Mary Magdalene. She went from walking next to Jesus to being known as a prostitute.I don't think it should matter as much what sex the person was. It's the ideas and thoughts that should be important.

nothing would be a more powerful statement. but true when you say "Doesn't it make you feel much more loved to know a woman had to die for your sins than a man? A good woman is a terrible thing to waste." but thats an opinion, a good one, but God did it perfectly.

1.) because it wasn't God's plan.
2.) because they wouldn't have crucified a woman, they would have stoned her.
3.) becuase of the society's standards at the time, noone would listen to her.
God does favor many women in the Bible. All 3 Marys, (mother of Jesus, of Bethany, and Magnelene), Sarah, Hannah, Leah, Rebekah, etc. However, there are some women that have terrible stories and stereotypes following them: Jepthah's daughter, Bathsheba (reputation as a whore), Hagar, etc. However, there are men that God shows favor to (Abraham, Issac, Jacob, Noah, Moses, John the Baptist, etc.) and those he does not (David, etc.). This does not imply favor over one gender or another, it implies that the faithful will find favor. I hope that helps!

If Jesus waas a woman, do you really think we would have even anything close to a patriarchal society? I also think that if Jesus was a woman, Christianity would not have risen up in it's current form. Followers at that time and place and since would not have accepted a woman Messiah. The would have killed her instantly or just dismissed what she had to say.

But you needed someone who could gain power right from the get-go to help others be elevated to power that normally wouldn't be. If it were a woman, she would have already been starting out on the left foot and it is unlikely she would have been accepted by as many people as a man was.

Interesting, if possibly loaded, question. But sure, it would have been completely revolutionary. In fact, I think God went with the male thing just to keep the message easier to understand and less intimidating to male egos. It sure made the boys want to dress like the girls in their clubhouse called the church.

Yeah, Christianity probably wouldn't have been as big of a religion as it is now if Jesus were a woman...*sigh*
Thank you for the encouragement though!!

Makes sense to me, but I think all-knowing God kinda didn't know back then about the women's rights movement that was bound to take place in the 1960's.

I think things would have been better for us all if women were on the forefront of everything and men were covered in head to toe burkas....LOL
