That implies deeper feelings than just friendship, so don't do it unless you have those feelings for her. For one thing, she may get the wrong impression if you don't, and things could probably get awkward and might very well affect the friendship. Also, you need to ask yourself how you would feel if her reaction wasn't positive.
You don't mention how much you really like her, but if you have those feelings for her and would like to try moving the relationship to the next level, you'd probably be better off--in a quiet moment when it's just you and her--saying something similar to "You know, I really do like you." That'll put the ball in her court, and her answer might give you a clue if there's a chance for the both of you to become a couple. If not, mention it again later and put more emphasis on the word "like." She
should get the message and will let you know if the feelings are mutual. And keep your fingers crossed and hope that her knowing you like her more than she likes you (if that's the case) won't affect the friendship you already have. If you play it smart and use caution, it'll probably be O.K.
So, if you do and she doesn't, be satisfied with what the two of you do have together, and start looking elsewhere for a deeper relationship

It's not the best way to make a move. Putting your arm around someone is quite territorial - it says "you belong to me". If you aren't actually going out, then she'll probably find it a bit creepy. Even if she does like you, it's still not a good idea as she won't necessarily take it as a sign that you like her.
Yeah, and don't put your penis in the popcorn either - it doesn't work on these modern girls with their feminism and their careers and their pant suits.

I really don't see it being a problem but I suppose it may depend on the girl and whether she seems comfortable with it or not. You probably might wanna like, clarify beforehand casually though that you really appreciate her FRIENDship so when you do it, she's not sitting there all stiffly like "Uh...what's he thinking?"

As long as she seems comfortable with it then go right ahead! She may like it very much! This may also give you an idea of whether she likes you as well by her reaction to the move.

I would say it's wrong if you just ended up doing it without her approval first.
She's a friend right, so don't invade her 'space' without finding out how she feels about it.
Then go from there.

If she didn't like it, and she told you or moved away, or gave you a look, don't do it and apologize. That sort of affection in a theatre implies more than friendship.

I think that's sweet. I would rather know that a guy friend like me rather than have it akward between us. You never know she might like you more than a friend too.

that is not wrong at all. If you are into the girl, do what you feel comes naturally. You never know, she may be into you too!!
Good luck!!
