well said. we can't live in the past. let's learn from it. what happened with the native americans and mexicans back then is an example of what happens when you don't protect your land from invaders.

The pilgrims came here to escape the religious persecution that they were experiencing under the rule of the King of England in the day.
Illegal immigrants are coming here to get more money.
I don't know about anyone else, but I don't see the similarities. Maybe I am not looking hard enough, like those that are for illegal immigration. And maybe those that are for illegal immigration don't have a leg to stand on in their argument, so must remind us all about how people immigrated here to start this country. But at the time, there was plenty of land to settle and plenty of resources. And money wasn't really an issue to them at that point.
So yeah - the times are different. Again, I think it is a feeble way to try and win an argument that they can't win. They are breaking the laws - that should be enough to do something to stop illegal immigration.

Only when this United States becomes as poverty ridden and corrupt,as their native country, will the pro illegals be happy. Then they will be at home. They do not want to become a part of the American dream ,they want nothing to do with ,Americans,English,or our traditions. They only want a bigger Mexico. They don't respect us as people ,they desecrate our flag and our country. They come here illegally and demand ,demand rights that Americans have fought and died to have and protect.
It makes me ashamed too to hear native born people say they hate this country and want it to be taken over by illegals and the traitors that support them.If you don't want to live in America and support ,your own country ,then to me you are no better than a common criminal. You don't have to support this government and all it stands for but how can you not support your home.If you want to live in Mexico then go there make it better ,but don't try to live in the United States of America and turn it into Mexico.
You will find it may not be what you thought it would be.and to all the illegal supporters, when they get all the use they can out of you they will discard you like an old Kleenex. Then what will you do ?
Todd in order to be an illegal one has to break excising laws.and since there were NO laws against immigrating to this country, you are so misinformed its laughable.
You cant break a law that doesn't exist can you ? Or does that not compute in your mind ? Stop trying to justify illegal criminals with your feeble attempts,it only makes you look ignorant. No to any form of amnesty for anyone from any nation.

They want to go back in history to a time when there were no laws on immigration, as if the laws eventually passed by those immigrants don't mean diddly. It's a pitiful, ignorant attempt to twist the issue and try to grasp at something to save their sorry butts from deportation. They also want to bring up Native American history as if that has any bearing on immigration. They need to come into the 21st Century and obey our laws NOW. Have you ever seen a more hard headed bunch?

I also compare our ancestor to the immigrants. If you study the history of land acquisition in the United States, you will know it is as shameful as any history of colonization any where in the world. Read D. Brown. " Bury my heart at Wounded Knee" for starts and then Blood Meridian by Connor McCormack, or try to explain how the Texsa Rangers murdered hunderds of Mexican American citizens in the border area from the turn of the century to the 1920s.

Well George W, Jr... You are correct that illegal is illegal. The Pilgrims were the first illegals... Like today's illegal immigrants, the Pilgrims were welcome with open arms at first but the long term effects were devastating! If you see the pattern here... Then you recognize the importance of history. If you learn from the past then there is hope that you will not make the same mistakes in the present or future.

I agree with you in that illegal Mexicans shouldn't be compared to the Pilgrims. The Pilgrims actually made a positive contribution to the formation of this country. These Mexicans, with their millions of children receiving free education and healthcare at the expense of tax-paying US citizens, contribute very little if nothing.

well, people compare illegal immigrants to pilgrims because they say that pilgrims were illegal immigrants, except the native americans didn't really have a law system saying that no one was aloud to come or had to be a citiizen or something... so i dont really know why they compare the two..... and people say illegal immigrants arnt doing anything wrong to this country but thats a load of crap because their breaking our laws. If you don't believe me its in there name "ILLEGAL immigrants" they had to do somehting against our laws to get that name now didn't they?
