Well I guess it all depends on what a person likes. I'm African American and the way I style my hair usually depends on the way I feel that day. I do straighten my hair. But I also wear it curly some days (like today)...not all of us always straighten our hair though many do. I think all types of hair can look beautiful. Some black people are taught that straight hair is what's preferable because some look at it as "less ethnic-looking" (I suppose thats how you could put it) So thats what they do, but I think it really has more to do with what a person prefers. Well for me, it does anyway :)

It's nothing more than a style, just like dying your hair color, plucking your eyebrows, putting on earrings--etc. People of other cultures also straighten their hair as well as getting perms to curl it. Its not that we are trying to be "white", it's a HAIR STYLE. Why are you having hair problems? If so, contact me and I'll help you to find a style and accessories to suit you.

Because they see more ads with white people with staright hair.
But then, I am white & have straight hair & constantly get a curly perm...so it is most likely the grass being greener on the other side of the fence syndrome...

some straiten their hair for the some of the following reasons
1: its easier to care for on a daily basis
( natural hair gets knotted more easily)
2: to get a certain syle they would like to wear
