The text read, "I think you are not done with your lifestyle and we are better off as friends."

Breaking up over a text message is so junior high! But some people can't handle the pressure of breaking up face to face. Those are the people that shouldn't be in a relationship at all. If you break up with someone it should be face to face, short, and to the point. No one wants to hear a 10 minute speech when all that needs to be said is "Sorry, I just don't think that I can be with you any more." The bottom line is breakups suck. But they should be handled with maturity.

Very very wrong if your gonna do it at least have the balls to do it in person that way you can clear up anything that went wrong, or you thought or heard

and if like some are saying she was scared then why text anyway that would have just really pissed an abuser off

My best g/f and my best guy friend are getting married and he bought a 128 thousand dollar house for her to live in when they marry. He went out of town for a week on business. He got drunk at a football game and wanted her to be home at his house and not out shopping or whatever she was doing. He texted her "Are you driving my car because if you are I would like it put back at the house now." She was so mad she couldnt see straight. Red flags are very important. If someone does something or says something awful or cruel you shouldnt ignore it. The amount of direspect you should take... is ZERO. Good for her for nipping it in the bud. She is smart. You treat poeple how to treat you and she seems to be doing fine.

Thats lame, text messaging someone to break up with them is like leaving them a voice mail. Why not just write it on a piece of scrap paper and pass it to them in class, its all grade school antics. Childish in my opinion

If the text were along the lines of cheating or really bad mouthing her, yeah I'm with her. If it was something taken out of context, she needed to chill b4 making a rash decision.

What did the text say, how can I give an opinion without knowing?

I suppose it depends how long your dating but in my opinion, it's never alright to break up via text. You text someone to say your running late, not "this isn't working out, let's just be friends." At the very least, a phone call please.
