I believe it's fake. Why? beside the bibles telling us things about demon possession, there i a thing i would like to point out why i don't believe in it.
there has been no real evidence on true demon possession right? we may seen some shows that claims they're real. But when i saw it, i think they are just having major mental problems. Nothing demonic. Either that they are just actors pretending just to scare us to pray and worship everyday.
Another thing is, why would a devil or the fallen angels want to possess us? they cause enough damage without having to possess us anyway so what's the big deal?
I do however believe demons might or might have not exist because of strong negative things in our lives. The fears, the lies, the paranoia and or illusional things that causes us to rape, kill, terrorize, molest, and so forth.
But not demon possession, because we control ourselves. all they tell us is that when a person is possessed they just act all scary like that girl in exocrism

ok, some of you are spouting from the bible itself, i want true evidence.
The reason i am very skeptical about this demon possession is because basically, we have no idea what is really there anymore. all the religion says one thing, another says differently, i've seen things, people tells things, it's all just very confusing. which is why we don't believe in them.
now do understand what i am saying, i do believe there is probably some things we just don't know about. why do bad things happen? bad things came from many things like abuse by parents, by peers, teachers, and so forth.
what cause the middle east to want to kill each other so badly? demon possession? i dunno. I think it has to do with abuse of belief as well. Like i am right and you're wrong. people wants people to believe they are right.
what causes fear, hatred, and fallacy tales? the religion. why? because so many things badly happened because of them. But i am not referring all are the same, just some leaders.

It's fake. The entire notion of "possession" came from the mental illnesses and physical disabilities that cropped up from time to time. When these people acted strange or irrationally, the people around them assumed that either they were reacting to things they couldn't see or that something bad was influencing them. Today we know better...the claims of modern, self-appointed exorcists to the contrary. I have yet to hear about anything resembling a "real" possession.
I do hear about people occassionally getting killed in exorcisms, though.

Though accounts are small...I think it's foolish to just dismiss religion. America is famous for being closed minded. And possessions, though not totally "Christan" are totally real! Science can only explain so much, and lets not forget those who are in a position of power deem what is correct and not in terms of relative information. However, you can't deny that many people, claim they have been possessed, not for the sake of being famous, but just because that's how they felt. Plus, who can count out religion...it has been around longer than science. Though we can quickly dismiss the idea, we can't so quickly dismiss the fact that many people, who have no idea what possession is, have been "possessed". Sure, we have biological explanations for many psychological conditions which induce hallucinations...but, we also have many cases where no true explanation has been found.

Not true by far. I once went to lecture by a man who used to be apart of the ol-cult but is now a Christian. Now that he is a believer he has cast out many demons in Jesus' name, demons are not always visable in a humman, but they do exist, Martin Luther wrote that he had arguments with the devil and his minions. If he argued with them they must exist. We can controll weather or not a demon poseses us. Do not give into the things of the devil, at the lecture the speaker said that the majority of people that have demons got them from giving into some sort of future telling device. Christians can also have demons, if they fall away from the truth.

I'd say that I am skeptical of cases of claimed demonic possession particularly those made by televangelists and people of their ilk as I am skeptical of most particular empirical claims as they are in need of verification. However, we know from the Bible that demonic posses ion is a real phenomena and that it does occur. In the Gospels Jesus drives demons out of people on several occasions so in these acts God has revealed to us the reality of such occurrences.

Wrong. There is such a thing as demon possession. Take a look at some of the horrible things that are going on in the world. Something besides an evil thought is behind it.

If you're going to throw out the power of posession, a long standing tradition held by Jews and Christians, and other faiths, both, you might as well throw out belief in the demons all together and accept that the bad things that happen are just unfortunate occurances or manmade problems.

What evidence do you have that some of these cases are only mental problems, and who started that explanation.
I believe that people with mental problems are those who are born with it and those who may have met in an accident it happened to them. If you were born normal and no accidents or anything like that and you start to become violent and kill people you are demon possessed. I have a friend who dealt deep in witchcraft, we grew up together, and last week he killed his mother and two brothers. The Bible clearly speaks of demon possession and if you think about it it is always people who are born normal and then become what scientist say mentally unstable, but why are they always prone to violence? Why, are the ones who are born with it or met in accident totally different from those who just up and become mentally unstable?
There are evil angels around and they possess people on different levels some full possession and some are just influenced. But none-the-less there are people who are demon possessed even today. Hollywood has blinded our eyes by portraying it in a way that seems unreal and if it doesn't present it self like that then it is not real.

It is real. Just because we don't see it today int he same way it is described in the Bible doesn't mean that it doesn't happen in varying degrees.
Example: temptation. When we give in to temptation, we are giving the devil some power over us, this allowing him to possess part of us. Our minds.

No such thing as demons, nor Satan, and so definitely no possession.
Riddle me this: if God is all-powerful and benevolent...why does Satan apparently want to punish us in Hell, and cause us anguish? If God is all-powerful, he could wipe Satan out immediately...but my point is, is that the idea that the devil opposes an all-powerful god and intends to punish ungodly people is ridiculous.
Either he isn't an enemy of God, but is in fact in his employment to torture those who don't do his bidding...or he is an enemy, and if anything would welcome you with open arms if you chose to reject God and wanted to be "satanic" and "sinful". He'd have no reason whatsoever to punish you, rather than hand you a Pina Colada and say "hey maaaan, welcome to the club!".
