I am 100% for abortion because it stops potential children from being abused, neglected & unloved. As for having the child & putting it up for adoption, adoption home are already brimming with children who don't have homes.

Abortion has been going on for amany centuries. Before it was legalized things like wire coat hangers were used. Many women dies in the process of having homemade abortions. It is not just rape victims but there are many women who are just not able to even care for the baby during pregnancy. Pregnancy can be very diffucult and there are so many women addicted to drugs, emotionally screwed up amongst other things. How could they possibly bring a healthy baby to term to give up for adoption?
I lived in a place once where abortion was illegal and there was constantly dead babies and fetuses being found in bushes, garbage dumps etc.
It is NEVER an easy choice for a woman to make ( I did make this choice). I knew it was the best choice for me at that point in my life.I stand behind my choice and never look back.
There are some people who i think should NEVER be parents abd should be sterelized but we don't do that so why should we take away a person's right to make a choice to end a pregnancy that is not wanted. As long as you are sure about your choice then you should be okay.
Just my opinion and I have been through it.

Abortion is the killing of an innocent life. A baby is a baby. If you are old enough to get pregnant, be responsible and deal with it. Don't use abortion as some semi-quasi form of 'white-out'.
In the case of rape, I am more understanding of it, but I still don't condone it. You are punishing an innocent child, it is NOT the baby's fault that his/her father is a criminal. Kill the father, not the baby.
In the case of medical necessity, when it is a choice between the mother or child dying, I don't know. I hope I would NEVER have to make that choice to begin with, because I would probably want the baby saved first, unless it was way too early to be born and could not survive anyway.
I hear people say all the time that it is MY body, MY business, MY life...
ME,ME,ME.....
What about the baby's right to live?
And really, your body and soul belong to God, you personally don't have 'title' to it like a car or house......He created us.
In all other cases, I agree that people should butt out of others business.
But this is different, because you HAVE to take into account the BABY's
right to be born and live.

I had one when I was a kid. It was a terrible, painful experience.

BUT I believe it should be available for people within their 1st trimester, or if there is a complication that could harm the baby/mother.

I would NEVER have another one, but understand situations where the child would be much worse off if they were living. (Very young, stupid parents, Abusive parents, drug addict parents who don't want to give their kids up for adoption).

I have since had a miscarriage, and have also given birth to a little girl. These events changed my opinion not on legality or illegality of abortion, but the importance of life, and the rewarding challenge of being a good parent.

There are many sick, clueless people who don't know they are, yet have sex and get pregnant without ever preparing themselves financially or emotionally to have a child, or allowing a good family to adopt their baby. Abortion should be available to these troubled souls.

The morning after pill is available OVER THE COUNTER now. There is no excuse for them to bring more kids into the world.

I don't think it should be used as a form of birth control but in some cases it's the best option for all involved. It should not be illegal because it is an option that women should be able to choose wether or not they go through with it as an infomed & educated decision. If it was a choice between me & a foetus I would hope that my life would have more meaning than a foetus as I could always have another kid after cancer treatment or something. Men shouldn't be making legislation regarding this issue. Basically for every reason that an anti-choice person has on the issue I can refute it.

I am totally against it because it kills a person that would be alive if it weren't for your actions. It stops a beating heart. How can you argue with that? I think that in the case of rape a victim would get cleaned out relatively quickly - within a couple weeks of the incident, and before other people would even know they are pregnant - and the baby is only a few cells big at that point. I had an ultrasound though at 4 weeks and there was the heart beating!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Honestly, I think an abortion is a very personal and private decision that is no one elses business. It is not my job to judge others or tell them what is right or wrong or to stop people from doing something that I may not agree is right. I think people and the government should butt out.

On that note, I am against abortion, not that no one should have one, but I could never have one and not sure how anyone else could but I don't feel it is my place to make that choice for someone or to judge them, that is someone elses job and it will happen someday.

I am against abortion but I believe that there needs to be a lot more help for women in difficult situations. A lot of women really don't see alternatives and they are judged for their actions. It's scary how many people use abortions as birth control. That is absolutley disgraceful.

Your first answerer is WRONG WRONG WRONG. I am an adoption social worker and if by some wonderful thing I got a call about 50 babies available, I'd have them them all placed by 2:00 this afternoon NO PROBLEM.

Adoption agencies ARE NOT BRIMMING WITH BABIES. This is no justification for abortion. Babies do not go to foster care, we have HUNDREDS of families just waiting to love and cherish these babies and give them a wonderful life....and if I didn't have a family, I could call another agency that has hundreds waiting!

Anyway, I am against it for many reasons. I wouldn't do it, I would hate for my daughter or one of my children to do it, because it is wrong and it is killing a baby and I fear for these moms.

That said, I would never judge anyone or stop loving someone who had one. No one wants one, they don't wake up and say...."Hey, I'll go have an abortion today on my way to get my hair done." Many feel they have no choice.

Some people are just irresponsible and selfish. I will say I oppose abortion as a method of birth control....repeated abortions are unexcusable.

So I'm totally against it, but to be honest. I'm sick of the issue. Do you know the republicans just took it up so they could get the Catholic vote? Catholics typically voted democratic because of issues of poverty and the Vatican II decision that the government should take a more active role in caring for the poor. Guess which party does that? The church also teaches a universal acceptance and equal treatment for minorities.....guess which party won that one? On EVERY other issue set forth by the church the democrats had them....so the republicans jumped on abortion and they won.....

we ignore the war, the lies, the low IQ of leaders, the fact that over 50% of American children go to bed hungry with no proper health care, that many attend schools unfit for the rats that live there, and are products of uneducated and underemployed teen parents (because we are teaching "Just don't do it" and they are anyway!) Because "I don't like abortion."

Guess what, neither does the woman who just had one.

So I oppose the whole abortion issue....when all of our children are loved and safe and receiving good food and education. When we aren't off killing people and making more enemies to come after my children and grandchildren....then I will worry about the unborn.

Women who have been through abortions need love and understanding. As a Christian, I believe their babies are safe in the arms of Jesus. My goal is that someone will reach out to their mommies IN LOVE so that they will meet them again someday.

I think abortion should be an option for a woman needing to end a pregnancy. No one wakes up and says "Hey! I think I'll have an abortion today!" I think it is a very difficult decision, and a woman has her reasons for deciding to end the pregnancy. We don't know what those reason are, and really is none of our business. Her personal health could be jeopardized by carrying out a pregnancy, she could have been raped, she may have a rare genetic disorder that would cause a painful and disfigured life for her offspring.

this question is difficult because it depends on so many things. If a girl gets pregnant out of rape then definitely for abortion. If just wrong timing i can agree with that the first time but if girl is just not using protection and views abortion as the quick fix then no!!!!!!
Also too young, not ready then Maybe. again everyone is allowed one mistake but learn from your mistakes.Repeat abortions are just wrong. You have to be able to live with yourself afterwords.
I personally wouldn't do it simply for the fact that i am responsible enough to live with the consequences of my actions. You wanted unprotected sex so you wanted a baby is how I see it.
