Generally horses enjoy running anyway. But when you add the racing motivators, bell or gunshot and the rider with the whip, it's even more likely the horse will run. Race horses are trained for many years to run as fast as they can when certain triggers, like the gunshot, are activated. They learn that this is what the human wants, so they do it. Plus, I truly believe animals know when they win contests, and they enjoy it just as much as we humans do...lol. I hope this answered your question.
