The color of your hair is based on your genetic profile. It is more common to inherit your mother's genes for you hair color and texture. However some ethnic genes are dominant from maternal or paternal.
When you consider this you can't just look at your mother but her whole family. For example your mother could have blonde hair but might have a sister or brother with red hair, so your hair might be red. So, to consider how you might look consider everyone on both side of your family. Darker hair and more coarse textures seem to be dominant too.
