did, why don't more Christians try to live like Christ did? I'm not talking about walking around performing miracles, but giving up your material possesions and worldly concerns in an effort to fulfill spitirual needs.

I love that someone actually had the audacity to say that I am not charitable. How do you know this? Did Jesus tell you? I have given more than I should have, including cars, to people in need. I suggest you take the time to find that out before making an ignorant and blind assumption. Is that what they taught you in church?

No, that's not the ultimate goal of a Christian. The ultimate goal of a Christian is to be like Christ so that we can lead others to Him so that they can be Christians too.
As for why more Christians don't try to live like Christ, that one's easy. It's called being a "fair weather" Christian. In other words, they want the rewards without the work.
I'm not aware of anywhere in the Bible wherein the Lord asks us to give up material possessions. As a mater of fact, we're promised a lot of those things. "Ask and it shall be given unto you."
"Worldly concerns" I think you're talking about worldly ways? If so, that is something that we shouldn't be a part of. This refers to living our lives in sin. This is the biggest challenge for most Christians. My guess is because it's all around us. Nearly every billboard or advertisement sells with "sex", most movies are violent and contain sexual content or other things that we're not supposed to be a party to, etc.
I know it's sad. We as people are weak when it comes to wanting to be like everyone else and it takes a constant spiritual mind-set not to get involved with "worldly things". Overall, I think that in itself is what defeats "the ultimate Christian goal" for most Christians.

That is a good question I believe but we are also to work remember to live. The Israelites worked and even in the ten commandments the fourth commandment is broken into two parts: Remember the Sabbath Day to keep it holy and also THOU must do all thy work in six days. And there are other parts that speak that if a man does not work he must not eat. Christianity and Christ does not promote laziness and as such we should also work so as to feed our families and ourselves. We however, are called by God not to put worldly possession above our salvation and others that is one reason why the Sabbath was also instituted. We have forgotten this command because they most prosperous day of the week to work is on Sabbath where we get more pay and better business.

I live at a church and volunteer i have what God has blessed me with and that's it but truthfully not all are called to do this the chruch has to have people to work and support the work of God. Funny thing is i bet that your'e not even willing to donate old clothes or food to help someonewho is in need .So if your not willing to do it why pressure christians too? it never ceases yo amaze me that people tell christians what they are suppose to do but yet when christians say anything they are forcing their beliefs on you? if you think not enough christians are living the way Jesus said to I think you should put up or shut up step up to the plate if you know so much and lead by example. People think christians are weak but one I know i'm willing to bet that you or anybody else on here that's not christian could not do the things I do !! So until your willing to step up and lead by example maybe you should just keep on not believing and leave the real stuff to the awsome people of God who make a difference in this world everyday picking up the slack for people like yourself!!

life continually has which potential. i could not undergo in recommendations each and every determination i've got made--or maybe maximum possibilities, to be trustworthy, considering the fact that i'm horribly forgetful--yet each and every determination has helped me become the guy i'm now. Even the forgotten stories have enriched my life in some small way, and how can that not have which potential? to boot, collectively as I even have the psychological technique of a goldfish residing in a bottle of vodka and seem thoroughly incapable of remembering something in any respect, i don't think of my reminiscence would be this undesirable interior the subsequent life. I overlook issues because of the fact i'm too easily distracted, because of the fact i'm human and function too many obstacles, yet that for the time of all likelihood is in simple terms not the case interior the subsequent life. i think of we are going to be waiting to undergo in recommendations each and everything interior the life after this, and that i'm constructive that we are going to additionally undergo in recommendations lots of the flaws we've already forgotten. we are going to undergo in recommendations our childhoods and our kin individuals from this life, and if our attitude is eternal, i think of which will basically brighten our recommendations of our mortal lives. loss of life and the resultant immortality will basically advance what this life has given us, not take from it.

Many Christians do give up amny mateirial posistions read the book of Mayrters. Jesus did more than give up his posesions. He spread the word of the Gospel, he did the will of God, and set a good example for every one. I will admit not every Christian does this. but no one is perfect. God never said we would never do anything wrong again after we became Christians. We all sin day to day. And giving up your things will not fullfill your spirituall needs. Only a relasionship with God through Jesus Christ will get you that. Works do not get you to heaven, they are the after effect of someone who has fully given their life to God and ment it. If you love God you won't want to disapoint him.

This is exactly why I have problems with Christianity & stopped attending church. I don't like what people do in the name of a prophet.

Most christians are too worried about whether or not YOU are living like Christ to bother with worrying about whether or not THEY are living like Christ.
