I'll tell anyone mine, it's how old I am, like it or not.

Even in other countries it's not acceptable to ask.

BTW I'm 36 and I look it.

The etiquette rule implies that a woman loses her value as she gets older. I hope people would learn to see it as archaic. Someone who is comfortable with herself embraces age because the only alternative is pretty lousy. We can't outrun biology and time.

No you don't you look late 20, early 30's ( I'm older than that)

I tell all the women they are all 29 but here is the twist,
in your case for example you are 29, with 7 years experience.

back to your question, no body likes growing older, they like the feeling of youth, that's why women buy billions of beauty products.
Problem is too many magazines out there, tell women what they should look like, but they are all digitally edited, so much they are no longer real. so women lie about their age to portray a younger youthful image, and try to hold on to it as long as possible. Cosmetics and surgery help, to keep the appearance of this beauty.
Do you think a 20 year old is more attractive than a 40 or 50 year old ( no disrespect intended ), get my meaning. And for some women the truth hurts.

Saw your 360, you have a youthful look, and very attractive.

well i do think it is rude to ask a woman her age on the first day., but if you know a woman and she looks like she is a kid you probably should ask her real age, but then again some one these young girl be looking order too so i would still ask. I know guys who come up to me all the time and they want to go out with me. I tell them i am too young for them but i am not as young as they think i am. I am 23, i look like i am 14 0r 15.

This rule hearkens back to a day when a woman was an old maid if she hadn't married by the time she was 22, and a woman's value was largely connected to her reproductive capacity. I think because today's culture is so wrapped up with the value of youth, that it hasn't gone away as fast as it really should have. To me, it's way more flattering if someone asks you, and you answer, and they respond again with "NO WAY!" I'm only thirty- with luck I'll keep getting that response in years to come!

It's because some women have a personal problem with the fact that they're maturing. They somehow see it as a curse of some sort. I personally think they actually age themselves more by worrying about it and spending so much time and effort trying to hide it.

By the way, you have a great attitude and outlook. I'd love to get to know you as a friend. You inspire me.

Talk soon?

I think it's leftover etiquette from way back when. I think we should be proud of SURVIVING in this world for 40, 50, 60... years. 24 hours in a day, 365 measly days in a year. Ain't nothin'. I don't believe in time anyhow. I can't reconcile time and eternity. I do believe in gravity, though. Darn it. Oh, by the way, I'm 47. :) yea, me!

Because in some cultures, such as Western ones, it has traditionally been that men become distinguished as they age, but women just get old. Men don't mind revealing their age because it just means they are getting more distinguished. For women, it means they are just getting older, so they are more hesitant to admit how old they are.

And in many cultures it is considered rude to ask personal questions; it is seen as prying.

It's not really rude. But many women don't like telling thier age.
Most of the women I know joke with it. Say they're 30 when you can tell they're 50. Depends on the individual.

If someones asks my age I have no problem telling them. I'm 33- not very old yet! *L*

I don't get why people are so secretive with the age but it might depend on the circumstances of them asking.

I don't get it either. Hey it's just a number. I look at it as as long as I wake up in the morning it's a good day. Don't really care how old I am. Oh 45 BTW.
