Just be sensible.
Don't overload your body with too much sugar or junk foods or fats etc...
Do eat plenty of fresh fruit and veg.
Eat till you're full, don't finish a plate if you're comfortably full already.
Drink plenty of water.
And my favourite don't deny yourself something you fancy, just have it in moderation! someone pass the chocolate!

Eat more fruit & Veg (at least five palm sized portions day).
Cut down on red meat.
My brother who is a fitness trainer always tells me:
Breakfast like a king. Lunch like a price and eat dinner like a pauper.
It does make sense as we rarely excercise in the evening and yet this is when we eat our largest meal. It can be difficult to achieve these in "the real world" though.

Put together or cook meals yourself so you're more aware of what goes into them. As much as possible, use whole, fresh ingredients. Try to make 75% of your food shopping basket items which have only one ingredient e.g. nuts, chicken, cheese, fish. Then you will have a better idea about what you are eating.
