Question for muslims?

i am muslim who wants to know whether music is haraam or makrooh and if so how ab playing instrument, im willing to give up these things if necessary, thank you

good question. i don't think it's haram. as long as it doesn't mislead you ,it should be fine. but it can be haram if if it engrosses you to the point where you ignore your good sense and mandatory religious duties. for example, playing the musical instrument way past the prayer time. it doesn't have to be always music, anything that has that effect on you can be or should be considered haram. but then again , that is just my opinion and im not a religious mentor. you should check it with one who is an expert on such matters in your area. How can music be a sin? I am not a muslim, but I know that the Quran says, "and unto David We bestowed Paslms." (Zabur)

Now if you've ever read the psalms, you know that they constantly speak of making music joyfully to praise the Lord God. God invented music, and the first prophets always sang for him - when Moses delivered his people, his sister, the prophetess Islam calls Miryam, sang a song of praise to God.

How can what God invented be evil? Enjoy your music, for it is a gift God gives you. Return that gift to him in praise.

Do some research, but I dont think music is haraam in Islam. Everybody will have differnt point of views so it's better that you ask a knowledgeable, liberal islamic professor.
