Practice is the right word! It's not natural for me so I have to work like hell.

Mindfulness is difficult but I try every now and then. My mind likes to run off in a thousand different directions all at once - I call it monkey mind. ;-)

The two times that seem to work best for me are mealtimes and walking/hiking. I pay attention to the food and do not read while I eat, trying to focus on gratitude for the food and all the people who were involved in bringing it to fruition and into my home, all the way back to the Supreme Being. While walking, I try to see, really see and hear, everything around me - it's hard to worry about paying bills when I am marvelling at an autumn leaf.
