It seems as if their aircraft seems to mess up. On our way to Dulles, the steering got stuck (during the pre-flight check) and we ended up on Delta (thank goodness--much better service). On the way back from Dulles, we were stuck with Northwest. Everyone was on board and the electricity kept cutting out and they couldn't start the jet engines, so we had to disembark and get on an alternate plane. Could this be fallout from the mechanics' strike a year ago? Also, the Northwest flight attendants acted like they had chips on their shoulders. We are flying Delta or United from now on, no matter how expensive it is.

Northwest is hurting pretty badly. They and Delta are still in Chapter 11 bankruptcy. I think what you experienced is just coincidence. Even though Northwest does have the oldest average age fleet, I am sure they would not put a really unsafe aircraft in the skies. The pilots get a list of what is wrong with the aircraft before they fly and they get to decide whether or not it is worth taking the risk. When Comair pilots went on strike, they were saying they couldn't fly because the coffee burner did not work. So the pilots know what is wrong with the aircraft and they would not put their life at risk if the airplane is not airworthy.

I know a lot of people don't like the service of Northwest Airlines. However their ticket prices on average are a bit lower than other airlines from what I am told and they usually do not follow other airlines when they increase the price of airline tickets.

I prefer JetBlue but Delta operates a hub at Cincinnati so I have more experience with Delta and United.

Things are not going well for Northwest Airlines right now. One of their main hubs is right here in Detroit, and they've been talking about pilot strikes, flight attendant strikes, mechanic strikes; just about every type of strike imaginable for months. Of course, the courts are involved, the airline is teetering on the verge of bankruptcy, and pay is being cut. Not good. P.S.: I fly Northwest quite a bit and haven't had too many problems, but it seems like every time I have flown with Delta I've had a problem...Strange how different people have different experiences with the same company, isn't it?

Are you particular Delta offered CRJ900s? i'm practically 100% particular that they had a contract to easily purchase Boeing planes, till you mean ComAir, which Delta owns. and that i have also study web pages that say through late 2007, Delta will be again into the income. in reality, it truly is the reason they denounced USAir's takeover, because they're going to emerge from financial disaster later this 3 hundred and sixty 5 days. and that i doubt oil will be $seventy 8/barrel earlier the top of the three hundred and sixty 5 days. it really is Delta, i'm somewhat uncertain about NW, in spite of the indisputable fact that it really is maximum likely similar.

Give them brake (I mean break), suppose they took off without steering and didn't let you get off first? Then how would you have felt? What if they sped down the runway at 100mph with engines that wouldn't start? Think about it! Some people are never satisfied.
